White Ribbon UK

White Ribbon UK The White Ribbon Campaign is a non-profit organisation concerned with gendered violence.

We campaign to end men's violence against women and girls by educating men and boys on the harmful attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate misogynistic cultures. It's key focus is on educating and engaging with men on these issues given that the perpetrators of violence are often men. Although this is a minority of men, this violence impacts on thousands of others every year, in all walks of life.

The World Cup is a time when people come together to watch the game and celebrate.

But not everyone experiences football in the same way. Whether you're watching the game in a pub, a bar, or at home, everyone should be able to enjoy the game safely and comfortably. Comments, jokes or “banter” can cross a line and affect whether people feel safe, welcome and respected.

Join White Ribbon UK for a free practical webinar, Watching the Game, Playing Your Part, exploring everyday situations and simple ways to speak up safely, support others and help everyone enjoy the game, wherever you're watching.

Did you catch us in The Archers this week? 👀

White Ribbon was mentioned as characters spoke about saying “not in my name” and handing out white ribbons.

A small moment, but an important reminder that ending violence against women and girls starts with everyday conversations, visible allyship and action.

Thank you to the BBC and The Archers for helping bring this message to listeners.
Would you like to become a White Ribbon Champion or Ambassador and be part of the change?

History was made on Monday!

We hosted the first ever National Leadership Forum on Domestic Abuse in Fire and Rescue Services. We filled the room with Services from across the UK for important conversations about domestic abuse, Leadership, culture and safeguarding within our sector.

Domestic abuse does not stop at the station doors. We must recognise that even while working in a rescue service, sometimes our own staff need help too.

It felt incredibly powerful to see the level of engagement and commitment throughout the day and brought real hope for driving meaningful change nationally.

This was a huge step forward in recognising the importance of supporting our staff and ensuring appropriate systems and leadership are in place for us to respond to domestic abuse effectively, with compassion.

It was great to see so much support for Phoenix and I hope it now becomes a national movement, with every Fire and Rescue Service adopting its principles to help drive lasting cultural change and support for their staff.

Thank you to London Fire Brigade for supporting Phoenix and helping me create and host this event. A huge thank you to all of our speakers for your contributions. Also to all of our Fire and Rescue Services for travelling far and wide to attend, we are honoured.

Change is possible! This is just the beginning....

The mum of Grace Millane, Gill, is set to take on her latest fundraising challenge in memory of her daughter, trekking Peru’s Machu Picchu to raise funds for White Ribbon UK. At the same time, Grace’s friend Abi Painter, is preparing to run the London Marathon, also in support of White Ribbon UK.

“Grace loved to live, and she loved to travel,” Gill said. “She went to Peru herself, and her words to me were, ‘Mum, that’s something you’d like to do.’ So, it was the next one on the list. It’s going to be emotional because I know that Grace was there, but I know I’ve got to do it.”

Do you live or work in Wales? Join us for an exciting and rare opportunity to meet the co-founder of the global White Ribbon movement, Michael Kauffman.

At this free event in Cardiff, Michael will talk about how far too many women face threats each and every day, asking: how can we end physical, sexual, and emotional violence against women? Kaufman will discuss his pioneering work around the world and analyse the root causes of violence and chart an optimistic pathway for women and men to work together to end violence.

The event is being held with the support of the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner, helping to achieve a more equal Wales under the Well-being of Future Generations Act and is only for people who live and work in Wales.
