Quack Quack the ducks came back and had a ball ! Our photo shows 20,000 yellow ducks that have just been launched into the river, making us officially the biggest annual duck race in the UK.

Quack, Quack - Just 1 Day left before the Ducks are back - Hebden Bridge Duck Race - Easter Monday 6 April 26 @ 3pm (Fun starts at 12 noon)!

Parking can be a problem in Hebden Bridge on Duck Race Day. So for those who can’t walk there or use the limited public transport and have to drive, we’ve opened up the old Walkley’s Clogs Car Park, midway between Mytholmroyd & Hebden Bridge - look out for the yellow signs! (See photo)

Staffed by Mytholmroyd Scouts who would appreciate a donation, the path leads to the Railway Station and from there it’s a short walk across Calder Holmes Park to the Town Centre.

Apologies but the expected high winds have meant the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge duck ticket stall will not be St George’s Square, Hebden Bridge today but will be back from 1000 tomorrow!

Tickets however are on sale now from the website

As usual there will be 2 races - the Business Duck Race at 3pm where larger red, green, yellow and blue ducks on sale at £10 each race for prizes totalling £800 and the main race at 3.15pm, when the little yellow ducks costing £1 each, race each other down Hebden Water for the chance to win a £500 holiday voucher and cash prizes totalling £650.

On St Pols car park on Bridge Gate, we’ve got our usual small funfair, with plenty of rides to keep the younger ones amused.

The normal Sunday Market will be in full swing, plus lots of additional charity and gift stalls and food and drink outlets.

Performing from the island in the river will be 2 of the funniest people in the valley, keeping the crowds entertained throughout the afternoon!

Quack, Quack - Less than 2 Days left before the Ducks are back - Hebden Bridge Duck Race - Easter Monday 6 April 26 @ 3pm

Our photo shows the front window of our main sponsor Benchmark Travel, 9 Bridge End, Mytholmroyd, HX7 5DR who over the last 10 years have donated £15,000 worth of prizes for the duck race.

Next year celebrating 25 years in business as a travel agent and tour operator, they are well known not only for unbeatable service and value, but also for their quirky window displays as this one shows.

Starting tomorrow the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge duck ticket stall will be back in St George’s Square, Hebden Bridge each day until Race Day - (Wavy steps on Good Friday!) Thanks to all the volunteers who help us staff it, selling duck tickets and distributing duck stickers (sample in the photo) to kids young and old! Quack, Quack - the Ducks are back!
Hebden Bridge Duck Race - Easter Monday 6 April 26 - The fun starts at 12noon, Races at 3pm

With the theme this year being Emergency Services Ducks, many of the local schools and nurseries have entered into our annual shop window competition, preparing entries based on that theme!

Those who have entered this year are Burnley Road, Crossley Mill Nursery, Colden, Heptonstall, Luddenden Foot, Midgley, Old Town, Riverside, Scout Road, Stubbings & Woodbank.

The shops and businesses where you can see the children’s fantastic handiwork on display are, in Hebden Bridge:
Craft & Canvas, Dragonfly, Element, Fleur De Lys, Goo Cheese, Limited, NG Jewellers, Spirals, Tall Poppies, Valli Opticians & Zeitgeist!
In Mytholmroyd:
Benchmark Travel, Julie Clayton & Headquarters!

Congratulations to all the children involved (1 of the entries is shown in the photo) and thanks to all the shops and businesses for giving up their window space!

The winning schools get £100 for the best artwork and best display and £50 to each school for the runners up.

In the past these have been decided by the public vote, whilst this year a qualified panel of judges will be doing the deciding!

Hebden Bridge Duck Race - Easter Monday 6 April 26 - This weekend saw the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge duck ticket stall back in St George’s Square, Hebden Bridge. Thanks to all the volunteers (including a certain local Councillor) who helped us staff it!
It’ll be back next weekend so if you’re in town please stop and buy one!
