How History in Action began...

We’re Trizia and Mick and together we’re History in Action. We have separate lives as a playwright/director/running a theatre company (Bent Architect) - Mick, and running a heritage consultancy (The Heritage Connection) - Trizia. We met when working together on a community theatre heritage project called It’s In the Blood, about fans and players of rugby league in Rochdale and Oldham. The community cast for that project included a 14 year old girl who’d never played rugby, an 80 year old veteran from both codes who’d never spoken in public, and all ages and experiences in between. By the end of the 4 performances, connections had been forged across the generations and friendships made which last until this day. It was a fantastic eight months which no-one wanted to end.

We saw first hand how much people got from coming together to tell stories which were an integral part of their town and community. We realised that there must be many more untold or forgotten stories out there that deserve to be told. We decided to set up History in Action CIC to help communities to share their experiences through acting, song or dance.

Perhaps something happened in the place where you live, work or play, that you think deserves to be more widely known. If so, drop us a line at historyinaction.net and who knows, you could see a little bit of your own life-story performed in front of an audience, and know that your own part in history has not gone unnoticed.
