Were nearly there! At the close of Volunteers Week, a big thank you to everyone who has helped us with the big, exciting job of preparing the museum to reopen.

We have a big “push” day next Tuesday - quite literally … we need to position everything. If you can spare a bit of time, perhaps help with shifting or weeding, we’d be very grateful

It’s Volunteer Week this week and an ideal opportunity to introduce our new Museum Coordinator - Grant Lowe (in the denim) who met with our Chair, Tim Machin today and will be helping manage our wonderful team of volunteers. The bookcase is back in full glory following a recent day of conservation.

Welcome Grant and thank you to all our volunteers current and past for all the time and skills you bring.

We’ve had a great day bringing our book collection back to life after a few years hidden away! Big thanks to Rachel and our incredible volunteers who helped with the conservation and we also gave the Grammar School Headmaster’s Chair a bit of a birthday too. Bankfield Museum

A quick update. We had a meeting this evening to discuss the forthcoming exhibition. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, but we’ve taken the decision to postpone our reopening a little longer - date to be confirmed and we’ll update as soon as we can.

Meanwhile, if you would like to get involved and have skills to offer, suited to the museum, we’re keen to hear from you.

Thank you to everyone for the support to date.

As part of the preparation for our next exhibition, we’re delighted to share a soundscape which evolved from one of our CultureDale workshops last year. Read more about it and listen below. Many thanks to all who contributed to it’s making.

Soundscape developed and produced to encapsulate the sounds of Heptonstall's streets and people during its tumultuous history. Funding provided by Culturedale. With thanks to our workshop participants and our facilitator, Michael Crowley.
