This weekend some of our Trustees, volunteers and dear friends of Pride in Gloucestershire will be taking on the Two Peaks Challenge.

They are hoping to raise funds for this years main Pride in Gloucestershire event in September.

If you are able to, please visit the link below to donate. We have raised 61% of the target so far, which is amazing!

It is with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision not to run Pride in the Forest this year.

For many years, Pride in the Forest has been an important part of what we do. We know how much it means to LGBTQ+ people across the Forest of Dean and surrounding rural communities, where opportunities to come together, celebrate and find community can be few and far between.

Unfortunately, the reality is that events like Pride in the Forest require funding to make them happen. Despite our efforts, we have been unable to secure the sponsorship and financial support needed to deliver the event safely and sustainably this year.

As a volunteer-led organisation, we have to make difficult decisions about where we invest our limited resources. Continuing without the funding required would put the wider work of Pride in Gloucestershire at risk, and that is not a position we can responsibly place the organisation in.

This decision has not been made because Pride in the Forest is unimportant. Quite the opposite. We know just how important visibility, community and Pride are in rural areas, which is why this news is so disappointing for us to share.

To everyone who has attended, volunteered, performed, supported or celebrated with us over the years: thank you. You helped create something special.

While there will be no Pride in the Forest event this year, our commitment to LGBTQ+ people in the Forest of Dean remains unchanged. We will continue to look at ways we can support our communities across Gloucestershire, and we hope that Pride in the Forest will return in the future when the funding is available to make it possible.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Today marks 10 years since the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

On the 12th June 2016, 49 people were murdered and 53 others injured in what remains one of the deadliest attacks against the LGBTQ+ community in modern history.

Ten years on, we remember all those who lost their lives. We remember the survivors, the families, the friends and community forever changed that night.

Our friends Trans Liberation Gloucester are organising a protest on Saturday 30th May.

As we said yesterday, it is time for our community to come together and stand shoulder to shoulder with our trans siblings.

Please join Trans Liberation Gloucester outside John Lewis in Cheltenham from 1pm. Bring your flags, bring your signs and please bring your friends.

You have a voice, now is the time to use it.

The EHRC has now submitted its final Code of Practice to the UK Government.

If it goes unchallenged, in 40 days’ time it will become law.

It is dehumanising. It is degrading. It is social segregation.

To our trans siblings: we are sorry. We are sorry that, once again, you are being made to feel as though your existence is something that can be debated, questioned or denied.

But please remember this: we see you, you are loved, and you belong here.

You deserve to live authentically, freely and safely. We will never stop fighting for that.

You are not alone.

To our wider community: now is the time to speak up. Now is the time to stand shoulder to shoulder with our trans siblings and fight for what is right.

We urge you to write to your local MP.

We urge you to call the House of Commons on 020 7219 300 and ask to be put through to your MP’s office.

Being vocal and visible in moments like this matters. You have a voice; now is the time to use it.

This is an emergency.

Today is International day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

All LGBTQ+ people around the world deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and to live a life free from discrimination, violence and persecution.

Members of the LGBTQ+ community are still persecuted around the globe simply for living as their authentic selves.

We have come along way, but we still have a long way to go.

Today we send love and solidarity to anyone who has been a victim of hate crime and we pause in remembrance of those lost.

Hate will never win πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ
