THANK YOU | to the incredible Western Wildcats and Hillhead Hockey Club for organising an amazing hockey fundraiser featuring home baking, a tombola and stalls. They raised over £1000. This we're highlighting the continued injustice at the huge numbers of young people in Scotland affected by poverty.

We're calling for more investment in preventative measures to relieve and buffer the effects of poverty on young people.

We know sport & youth work alone can't fix poverty. But it’s a crucial part of a preventative infrastructure; offering young people a safe place to go in the evenings, make friends, be heard, be healthy, learn skills and build confidence. These are things that many people take for granted but they're not available to everyone...and they are what build the foundations for a successful and happy life.

Every young person should have the opportunity to thrive no matter what their financial circumstances. Let's invest in prevention and in the potential of every young person.

SSF EDUCATION MODULES | Before the summer our team worked with a group of S4 pupils from St Roch's Secondary school. Our SCQF Level 4 Communication module was delivered as an alternative education opportunity for students who were not sitting exams in May.

For young people not thriving in a traditional classroom, our activity-based learning offers qualifications, confidence, transferrable skills, attainment and supports young people towards their next step in life.

SSF EDUCATION AND TRAINING | Students studying Football Coaching, Sports Coaching, Sports Therapy and Fitness & Health and Exercise at City of Glasgow College have been taking part in individually tailored SSF education modules and well-being workshops.

Our training is adaptable to support specific organisations' needs around learning, development and intended outcomes.

These student groups took part in our bespoke Mental Health & Wellbeing and Planning Effective Physical Activity Programmes workshops. Through games, group discussions and practical activities, these students began planning their own wellbeing-focused events from what they learned.

Whether the aim is to develop practical skills, build confidence or prepare for a specific event, our Education & Training team can create learning that is needs-based, practical and person-centred.

COMEDY LINE UP ANNOUNCED | Tickets are now on sale to an evening jam-packed with top comedy talent all to raise vital funds for SSF.

We've got award-winning comedian-magician Chris Dinwoodie Magician & Comedian with his mix of tricks, illusions and hilarious comic improv. Fresh from her sold out Fringe Show, we have 2026 Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award winner Amanda Dwyer. Ifrah Qureshi brings her razor-sharp observational comedy and 'Just One More Gong' star Paddy Linton will be kicking off the night.

The evening will be hosted by the always witty and charming Jay Lynch.

Thanks to the team at STV News for coming to hear from young people Kebba & Billie about what it means to have free sport sessions and trusted youth workers embedded in their communities and how these funds make a real difference to young people facing real challenges. SSF is one of 51 organisations receiving funding from CashBack for Communities. This funding comes via the proceeds of crime and is distributed to projects delivering positive futures for young people.

SSF TRAINING MODULES | We recently delivered our SCQF LEVEL 4 Communication module to young people at Basketball Scotland 's Wheelchair Basketball Camp at sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde .

This group of young people had a diverse mix of experience of Wheelchair Basketball and showed great engagement and enthusiasm. It was brilliant to see the creativity that went into the games they developed to demonstrate different communication styles, as well as the amount of peer support and encouragement shown throughout. A huge congratulations to all 21 participants. It was a real privilege to be part of the camp and share the power that communication has in sport to diversify participation and include everyone.
