🎈 National Play Day 2026: Celebrating the Power of Play! 🎈

Today, on National Play Day, we're celebrating something every child deserves: the opportunity to play, explore, learn and have fun in a way that works for them.

At Geeza Break, we believe that play should be accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for all children and young people. Through our services, we create safe, supportive spaces where children can build confidence, develop friendships and make lasting memories.

🌟 Our Respite Sitting Service provides families with valuable support while giving children and young people the opportunity to enjoy meaningful play, activities and experiences tailored to their individual needs and interests within their community.

🏑 Our Bespoke Community Flat offers an inclusive environment where children and young people can take part in play-based activities, develop life skills, build independence and enjoy new experiences in a welcoming and supportive setting.

✨ Within our Community Flat, children and young people can also access our exclusive sensory room, designed to provide a calming, engaging and inclusive space where they can relax, self-regulate, explore their senses and enjoy play in a way that meets their individual needs.

Play is much more than having fun. It's about communication, creativity, wellbeing, confidence and belonging. That's why we're proud to support children and families across our community every day.

πŸ’™ This National Play Day, let's celebrate the importance of inclusive play and ensure every child has the chance to thrive, connect and simply enjoy being a child.

A huge thank you to Avalon Autism Parental Support & Respite Services for treating our families to a fantastic evening at this week.

The children had an amazing time exploring the park freely, feeding and petting the animals, spending time with other families, and most importantly, simply enjoying the opportunity to play in a safe and welcoming environment.

Some lovely feedback from families included:

πŸ’œ "It was a fab evening... so chilled and the kids got on so well."

πŸ’œ "I had an amazing time and the kids had a ball. Thank you so much."

πŸ’œ "It was brilliant. My daughter had such a good time and was knackered by the end of it! She fed a sheep and got to pet a pig as well. Having the park to ourselves was incredible. It was honestly perfect. Thank you so much for including us."

A huge thank you again to William and everyone at Avalon Autism for your continued support and for creating such a memorable experience for our families.

You don’t have to do it alone πŸ’›
We made these little reminders for the children, young people, parents, carers and families we support.
They are not magic fixes, and they do not replace support when things feel really difficult, but small grounding techniques can sometimes help in the moment when things feel heavy.
A few gentle reminders:
βœ”οΈ Talk to someone you trust.
βœ”οΈ Try 5-4-3-2-1 grounding: 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 you taste.
βœ”οΈ Drink some water, unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, and take one slow breath.
βœ”οΈ Name the feeling out loud β€” β€œI feel worried” or β€œI feel angry” can help calm the brain a little.
βœ”οΈ Try the 2-breath sigh: inhale, inhale again, then take a long sigh out.
Keep these reminders if they are useful. Save them for later, or pass them on to someone who might need a small reminder today.
Every small step counts, and no one should have to manage difficult moments alone.
