What an incredible week for Exmouth Beach Wheelchairs! 💙

In the last week alone, we’ve had over 30 advance bookings through our online calendar – PLUS even more people popping along and hiring a chair on the spot! 🙌

We are absolutely blown away! 🥰

It’s fantastic to see the word spreading and so many people making use of our FREE beach wheelchair hire service, helping more people enjoy Exmouth’s beautiful beach. 🏖️☀️

🌊💙 A wonderful day at Exmouth Beach! 💙🌊

One of our fantastic Beach Wheelchair volunteers decided to make the most of the beautiful weather today and take his 97-year-old mum down to the beach for some fresh sea air and a trip to the water’s edge using one of our Mobi-Chairs. 🏖️☀️

We were sent these lovely photos from their visit, and we just had to share them! 🥰 Moments like these are exactly why the Beach Wheelchair Service is so important – helping people of all ages enjoy the sand, sea and everything our beautiful beach has to offer.

We have two Mobi-Chairs available to hire, along with a range of other specialist beach wheelchairs to suit different needs.

💙 All of our beach wheelchairs are completely FREE to hire.

At the Exmouth Beach Wheelchair Unit, we have a range of mobility equipment available to hire completely FREE of charge to help make getting out and about in Exmouth a little easier. 💙

Alongside our beach wheelchairs, we also have:

♿ Standard wheelchairs
♿ Larger/wider wheelchairs
🦽 Walking frames
🦽 Wheeled walking aids
🩼 Crutches
🦽 Lightweight mobility/walking aids

📅 Equipment can be booked in advance or hired on the day, subject to availability.

💙 All equipment is FREE to hire, although donations to support the Beach Wheelchair Service are always very gratefully received.

Whether you’re visiting Exmouth, recovering from an injury, or simply need a little extra support while enjoying the seafront, come and speak to our friendly team. ☀️🌊

🌊 Expression of Interest – Summer Beach Wheelchair Service Support Assistant ☀️

Exmouth Town Council is inviting expressions of interest for a fixed-term Summer Beach Wheelchair Service Support Assistant position.

We're currently preparing the recruitment pack and would like to hear from anyone who may be interested in joining our Beach Wheelchair Service this summer.

This opportunity has been made possible thanks to Exmouth Town Council successfully securing grant funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

This varied role is expected to include:
♿ Supporting the day-to-day operation of the Beach Wheelchair Unit
🤝 Assisting and coordinating our volunteer team
📋 Providing administrative support and managing bookings
📱 Promoting the service through social media and community engagement
🌞 Providing operational cover during busy periods, including some weekends

The anticipated role will offer:
• Fixed-term contract for 10 weeks
• Up to 16 hours per week
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or over

This fixed-term opportunity is offered at the National Living Wage.

💙 A huge thank you to everyone at Roselodge Care Home! 💙

Today we had the pleasure of attending their Summer Garden Party 🤠🌻 to meet the wonderful managers, incredible staff, smiley residents and families, where we receive a generous donation in support of the Exmouth Beach Wheelchair Service. ♿🌊

Roselodge has been using our Beach Wheelchair Service since we first opened, and it is always a pleasure to welcome residents back. 😊 We love seeing the amazing days out and activities they organise, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful beach, breathe in the fresh sea air and create lasting memories together. 🏖️☀️💙

This generous donation will help us continue providing free access to the beach for people with limited mobility, ensuring even more people can experience everything Exmouth's coastline has to offer. 🌊♿🌞

A heartfelt thank you to the whole Roselodge family, and to everyone who supported the fundraising. 💐 Your kindness, generosity and continued support mean so much to us, and we can't wait to welcome you back to the beach again soon! 😊💙

There's nothing quite like seeing the joy that our Beach Wheelchair Service can bring.

Recently, 10-year-old Amelia-Rose visited the beach using one of our beach wheelchairs, and she kindly shared her experience with us.

💬 A quick Q&A with Amelia-Rose...

🐚 What do you love doing at the beach?
"Looking for shells, going in the water in the wheelchair and building sandcastles."

💙 Why did you want to use a beach wheelchair?
"To join my class friends on the beach."

😊 How did it make you feel?
"Very happy to be able to get onto the beach using the Batman chair."

⭐ What was your favourite part of the day?
"Accessing the beach, using the Batman chair and looking for shells with my class friends."

🌊 Was there anything you were able to do that you couldn't do before?
"Go onto the sand and down to the sea."

❤️ What would you say to another child thinking about using one of our beach wheelchairs?
"I would say to them that I find it really fun and it makes me happy that I can use it on the beach."

Stories like Amelia-Rose's remind us exactly why this service is so important. Everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy the beach, make memories with friends and experience the sea without barriers.

It was a pleasure to welcome Vranch House School and Centre to Exmouth Beach Wheelchair Hire over the last couple of weeks.

Creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy Exmouth Beach is exactly why our volunteer-run service exists. From going in the sea to making special memories, it’s fantastic to see our beach wheelchairs helping make the beach accessible for all. ☀️🏖️♿

There’s something truly special about spending time at the beach – whether it’s dipping your toes in the water, enjoying fish and chips, treating yourself to an ice cream, or simply breathing in the fresh sea air. We’re so pleased our beach wheelchairs helped make those moments possible. 🏖️🍟🍦

We're so pleased your residents were able to enjoy everything that makes Exmouth so special – feeling the sand beneath them, taking in the sea views, paddling along the shoreline, and of course... finishing the visit with a well-earned ice cream! 🍦🌊☀️
