Tonight we did a variety of challenging runs.
After a decent warm up session, we started with a Meet & Retreat run (where a pair of runners set off around a looped course, each going in different directions, then turning around when they meet up and running back to the start). In theory, both runners should get back to the start at the same time but a runner's competitive nature always means it ends up as a race.
We then did (what we call) an 'Indian'. All runners set off in a group, arranged in single file with the front runner setting the pace. He/she then calls out for the back marker to sprint to the front and take over. This goes on until the lap is finished.
We then repeated the Meet & Retreat, and repeated the Indian, both in reverse directions.
All in all, it was a tough session but strangely enjoyable at the same time! Great running everyone.
The biggest lesson we learnt tonight was to not let an ex-Marine set the pace at the beginning!!!
