We are delighted to be recruiting for a full-time LGBTQ+ Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) & Recovery Worker - working across Cornwall.

Domestic abuse affects the LGBTQ+ community in ways that mainstream services often miss. We need someone passionate about intersectional advocacy to provide high‑quality, trauma‑informed, LGBTQ+ affirming domestic abuse support and recovery‑focused emotional and wellbeing support.

If you feel you have the skills to help make a real difference in people's lives, this could be the job for you πŸ˜ƒ

❀ What does it mean to be 'bisexual'?
Bisexuality means different things to different people. Traditionally, bisexuality has been described as an attraction and/or sexual orientation to both the same and the opposite gender to oneself. There are many different ways to describe attraction to more than one gender, and terms such as β€˜bi+’ have recently become more common in describing one’s attraction to a spectrum of gender identities.
❀ What does the term 'bi+' mean?
'Bi+' is a newer umbrella term for people who recognize and honor their potential for sexual and emotional attraction to more than one gender (bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, fluid, q***r, asexual, and other free identifiers)

❀ What do the colours of the Bisexual Flag mean?
The bisexual pride flag is coloured pink, purple and blue. The pink stripe represents attraction to the same gender, while the blue stripe represents attraction to the opposite gender. The purple stripe, the resulting "overlap" of the blue and pink stripes, represents attraction to all genders including non-binary people and those of other gender identities.

In his latest reflection, Consortium CEO Paul Roberts considers the current challenges facing LGBT+ communities and why engagement with government remains an important part of creating change.

Paul reflects on the complexities of working with those in power, and why building relationships does not mean staying silent. It means being in the room, telling the truth, challenging harmful decisions and making sure the experiences of LGBT+ communities are heard.

As we head into autumn, Consortium is choosing practical, collective, and determined hope, and continuing to stand alongside our members, grantees, and partners.
