Exeter City Community Trust Exeter's leading health and wellbeing charity working in partnership with Exeter City Football Club. The spread of our work is growing all the time.

We are Exeter’s leading health & wellbeing charity working in partnership with Exeter City Football Club. We deliver inspiring physical activity, education, health and wellbeing programmes and courses primarily across Devon and Somerset for all members of the community regardless of ethnicity, age, gender, physical ability, background or economic status. A full-time staff of 30+ and a casual staff of 70+ (supported by around 25 volunteers) are delivering on the frontline daily spending around 22,000 hours out in the community every year striving to improve life chances for all, often in the most deprived areas of Greater Exeter and among the most disadvantaged groups in our society. While football is our beating heart, our work in the community has grown to extend far beyond..Our health, education, wellbeing and physical activity programmes reach over 45,000 members of our community each year and around 48% of those programmes are not football. We want everyone to know you don’t have to play football, support football … or even like football … to benefit or participate. We are open and accessible to all, young and old, whoever you are, whatever your ability or background.

⚽ Celebrating our coaches

We may be a little late to Global Coaches Day, but our thanks are no less deserved.

Every week, our coaches are out across Exeter and beyond, creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get active, learn new skills, build confidence and enjoy being part of something.

But coaching is about more than what happens on the pitch.

Our coaches build relationships. They encourage people when things don't go to plan. They celebrate progress, whether that's a first session, a new skill, a personal achievement or simply having the confidence to keep coming back.

Across our football, health, education, inclusion and community programmes, our coaches play a huge part in the impact we have.

So today, we're taking the opportunity to say thank you to every ECCT coach.

For your time.
For your patience.
For your energy.
For believing in the people you work with.
And for everything you do for our community. ❤️

Thank you, coaches!

We’re looking for two passionate people to join Exeter City Community Trust and help make a real difference in our community.

We’re recruiting an Inclusion Programme Officer to support young people aged 12–25 through mentoring, activities and positive role modelling—helping them build resilience, make informed choices and achieve brighter futures.

We’re also recruiting a Health Officer to deliver welcoming physical activity, mental health and wellbeing sessions, supporting local people to make positive, lasting changes to their health.

Both are community-based roles at the heart of our work across Exeter and Devon. If you care about supporting people and creating opportunities, we’d love to hear from you.

Visit our website or see the full job descriptions for more details.

🏃 Every runner has a story.

Our Autumn Half Marathon and Autumn 5 Mile brought together runners at all different stages of their running journeys — and that's one of the things we love most about our events.

We caught up with Rachel Sanders, who we've watched go from beginner to podium finisher and winner of our events over just a few years.

It's been brilliant to watch that progression.

Because for us, running isn't just about winning.

It's about seeing people improve, whatever that looks like for them. Running their first race. Setting a new PB. Taking on a longer distance. Finding a running club. Making friends. Or simply finding the motivation to keep going.

We also spoke to Lewis about his race, how he got on and what motivates him to run.

And there's more to come.

We've been speaking to runners and running clubs across the local running community about their experiences, advice, where they run, where they meet and how people can get involved.

This is just the start.

🎥 Watch the film, meet some of the people behind the running community and keep an eye out for more runner stories coming soon.

What's your running story?
