What an evening at Exeter Cathedral for this year’s Harvest Festival! 🌾

The Cathedral looked incredible, with the pillars beautifully decorated for harvest thanks to the hard work and creativity of our members.

A huge thank you also to all six Devon YFC groups for their generous food offerings and donations. Together, an amazing 734kg of food was donated to Exeter Food Action, helping to support people across the local community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening such a success!

Following our wonderful food festival we posted about a huge delivery of lovely food donated by Brakes, the wholesale food supplier. Well, they've gone and done it again and, last Saturday, they pitched up with yet more, bringing their total to an amazing 1,284 kg, equivalent to just over 3,000 meals. Huge thanks to Brakes for their support and generosity. You're good friends to have!

Huge thanks to everyone who helped make Exeter Food Action's Food Festival in Princesshay Square on Sunday such a great success. Promoting food waste reduction and raising awareness of our work, the event featured cookery demonstrations, kids’ activities, expert talks and so much more. Special thanks to Fresh Ground Films who made this lovely video showing highlights of the day, and to our many partners, sponsors and volunteers, all playing a part. It was a great day!

We’ve had some wonderful feedback following our Princesshay Exeter Food Action Food Festival on Sunday. We’re currently busy collating stories and pictures and will soon have some filmed interviews and footage from the event, courtesy of Rouben and Richard from Fresh Ground Films, who were there from start to finish.

We’ve so many people to thank, not least Jodie from Pickle Shack, of which more later but, in the coming days, we’ll be doing just that, starting today with thanks to Jon Curtis, one of the founders of Exeter Food Action, who gave a wonderful talk about our history and an account of how it all began when he and a small group of volunteers began rescuing food from skips, which lead eventually to the Exeter Food Action we know today, providing rescued food to 70 food banks and community groups in Exeter and across Devon who, between them, every week, support 1000s of individual and families living with food insecurity. Jon, you and so many others made the day! Thankyou.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Food Festival in Princesshay on Sunday, a great, sunny day, during which visitors enjoyed presentations on our history, the joys of volunteering, cookery demonstrations, food growing tips, fermenting ideas and much else besides. Thank you, too, to our generous sponsors and partners, indeed everyone who played a part in making the day such a great success. Films and more photos to follow!

In 2024 we were fortunate to receive surplus food donated after a three-day conference at the university, delivered by our friends at Brakes, the wholesale food supplier. Then, from an 18-ton lorry almost the size of our warehouse, we unloaded 647kgs of food, equivalent to 1,540 meals. Today, we received yet another delivery of food, this time donated by Brakes themselves, weighing 816kgs, equivalent to just under 2,000 meals. Huge thanks to the company and to their lovely driver, Wayne, who helped us unload and store 2 pallet loads of fruit and vegetables. Brakes, you're good friends to have! Thank you.
