The sun shone in Cardiff for Rosanna and Ollie Percival as they successfully completed the city's famous half marathon! Cardiff Half Marathon

The siblings ran for ELF as a show of support for their dad, Tim, who is being treated on Yarty ward. Tim underwent chemotherapy, and is still receiving immunotherapy at the Haematology Centre. Rosanna said "Running Cardiff was a great experience and we're so glad that we were able to contribute to ELF"

Congratulations to Rosanna and Ollie for completing this challenge and our sincere thanks to them both for the amazing £1,800 they have raised in donations!

Today, we take a moment to celebrate and thank the amazing volunteers who make our ELF Transport Service possible.

Over the past 12 months, our service has welcomed six additional volunteer drivers, including Kevin (pictured), to the team. This means that we have eight incredible volunteers supporting patient journeys to and from the Haematology Centre in Exeter. And what a difference they’ve made!

By giving their time week after week, our volunteers have helped us travel a staggering 25,851 miles since April — that’s almost the entire circumference of the Earth!

This vital service wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, or the generosity of our fleet sponsors JMC Aviation

Last month, we were very kindly invited to attend a brilliant concert held by The Bands of HM Royal Marines at Exmouth Pavilion

It was a wonderful evening of music and we were delighted to be given the opportunity to speak to the audience about the work of ELF and our services for blood cancer patients within the community.

Thanks to the generosity of all those in attendance, we received a donation from the Royal Marines Band of £856.55! Our sincere thanks to everyone who donated and for the many people who stopped to talk to us about how ELF had supported them over the years. Always a lovely thing to hear!

2026 marks a very special anniversary in the ELF calendar: 30 years of Ros Lacey providing compassionate care and aromatherapy massage to patients undergoing treatment on Yarty ward.

At the heart of this much-loved service is Ros, a skilled and dedicated aromatherapist whose warmth, kindness and expertise have touched countless lives during her three decades working with ELF.

Through her thoughtful, patient-centred approach, Ros makes a real difference to people at the most challenging moment of their lives. Her aromatherapy sessions are so much more than a treatment – they offer comfort, relaxation, hope and a sense of humanity when it is needed most.

One former patient shared: “Ros is wonderful. While I stayed on the ward last year, she gave the best foot rubs – the one treatment I looked forward to each week. She’s so bubbly and kind.”

To celebrate this incredible milestone, we hosted a special tea party for Ros, attended by members from ELF and staff from Yarty and Cherrybrook wards. Patients also shared their thanks, leaving heartfelt messages and celebratory notes on the walls in recognition of the difference Ros has made to so many people.

Congratulations and thank you, Ros, for 30 years of making a difference!

Last month, Leah Clarke completed her ELEVENTH Great North Run in memory of her late dad, Peter Barry Clarke.

"I lost my dear dad when he was only 58 to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. That pain & loss is still so hard to put into words & I knew in that moment that I would like to live a life going forward that honoured & remembered him with love, affection & strength....I started running in 2015 & I haven't stopped! I've managed to raise a fair amount for different charities over the years but in particular I wanted to regularly raise funds for Exeter Leukaemia Fund, who treated my Dad & looked after our family at that time"

Our thanks to Leah for raising a brilliant £418 for ELF from this year's Great North Run, and congratulations upon achieving another medal to add to her impressive collection!

Over the past 12 months, Bampton YFC’s fundraising activities for ELF as their Charity of the Year saw them collect Christmas Trees for recycling, cook up a big breakfast, host a party night AND stage a Tractor Run!

This week, we were delighted to receive a donation of £1,500 from their brilliant efforts. Our huge thanks to all the Bampton Young Farmers for their fantastic support. Their donation will fund 3 Financial Support Grants to patients struggling with the impact of a blood cancer diagnosis 👏👏👏

If you, or someone you know, has been affected by cancer, then you may wish to attend an upcoming Cancer Health & Wellbeing Fair being held at Tiverton Football Club on Wed 14th October.

We will have an ELF information stand for those affected by blood cancer, alongside a host of other charities and organisations covering all types of cancers and providing talks. Plus our ELF team will also be running the refreshment stand so there will be plenty of opportunities to stop for a chat! Please come along and see us.
