It's St Petroc's Day today - also known as 'Devon Day' - so we're celebrating the place we call home.

From busy cities and coastal towns, to rural villages and remote hamlets, Devon is made up of many strong, caring communities that look after one another.

We're proud to be part of those communities, providing specialist care and support across more than 1,000 square miles of the county, and grateful to stand alongside those who show us so much support in return.

This Volunteers' Week, everyone at Hospiscare would like to give a shout out to our amazing volunteers. Thank you for being at the heart of our care. 🫶

Whether they’re welcoming visitors, supporting fundraising events, tending to our gardens, helping in our shops, assisting behind the scenes, or giving their time in countless other ways, their contribution is invaluable.

Our volunteers are an essential part of the Hospiscare family, and the difference they make every day cannot be overstated.

💛 What an incredible community. What an incredible achievement. 💛

Congratulations and thank you to the 175 runners who braved the heatwave and took part in Exeter's The Great West Run for Hospiscare last Sunday, 24 May. 🙌

Together, our record-breaking team have raised an incredible £4️⃣2️⃣,5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ and counting, which will help provide specialist care and support for local people living with terminal illnesses, and their loved ones.

Many runners stepped up in memory of someone special, with every mile completed powered by love and generosity – and the loud and proud support of our Hospiscare ‘cheer squad’. 📣

Our thanks also to everyone who donated, volunteered, cheered from the sidelines or shared words of encouragement.

This remarkable fundraising total belongs to all of you.🙏

“I don’t know what we would have done without Hospiscare.” - Lesley, Hospiscare patient.

There’s always a close bond with our patients and their loved ones, as we share each unique journey with them.

We were deeply saddened when Lesley lost her brave fight at Easter. However, she wanted to tell her story to help us ensure that no one faces a terminal illness alone, and no family faces loss without support. 💙

What a phenomenal day for Team Hospiscare 💙
A record-breaking 176 runners took on the Great West Run today in support of Hospiscare - our biggest team ever!
From the early morning excitement to the emotional finish-line moments, today reminded us just how lucky we are to receive support from such an awesome team of humans.
To every runner, supporter, volunteer and donor: thank you so much. Every mile run, every hour given and every donation made helps Hospiscare continue providing vital care for local people and their loved ones facing terminal illness across our community.
We are so proud of, and grateful to, every single one of you. 👏
