Our U16s had an AWESOME tour to Northern Island 🛩️🏉🤿

📣”Boroughmuir U16 ended a strong season with a tour to Northern Island! Friday to Sunday, 33 of the squad flew to Belfast for a weekend of fun! Friday was “water rugby”. 2 floating pitches on a loch playing 8 aside half contact. To score they had to dive into the loch! Saturday was game day! Playing against Coleraine RFC (with a few players from Coleraine school and Ballymoney RFC). Muir started under a lot of pressure. Once absorbed due to a strong defence, Muir got the opportunity to attack!
Winning the first 20 mins 0-14. This continued in the second 20, winning 0-24. The final half hour Coleraine got on the scoreboard, but Muir winning 12-26. It was probably the strongest performance of the season, which is great to see the whole squad come together, bringing all the years training to the front line! 12-64.
Sunday was a final treat of combat archery, where the coaches seemed to strangely get the brunt of most arrows! Many thanks to Coleraine and Ballymoney Rugby Clubs and the dedicated coaches and parent helpers on tour.” - Gareth Kemp, U16 Coach

🏉 Ambition for the season ahead?
I’m really excited to be joining Boroughmuir, the club has such deep roots in Scottish rugby. The structured and engaging environment that is imbedded in the club is something I find very inspiring and I look forward to getting started and working with the coaches and players.

Clubs played for: Lasswade rfc, Ross High Rfc and Gold Coast Eagles.
Clubs coached: Lasswade & Penicuik.
Position played: Openside

Looking forward to being involved with a great club like Boroughmuir and the strong coaching team we have here at the club to really challenge and develop the squad to hopefully build on the good foundations put in place over the past few seasons in National 1

Playing Career: King Edward VII school (SA), Heriots RFC, Murrayfield Wanderers & Preston Lodge RFC.
Coaching Career: Watsonians 1st XV, Biggar 1st XV, Scotland u18’s 2018-2020 & South District u16 & u18 2015-2026

🏉 What is your current role (other than Boroughmuir)?
East Lothian Rugby Development Officer, Head Coach for South District U18 & Joint head coach for the Edinburgh U16 pro-alignment squad with the Boroughmuir legend (Richie Lockhart)
