Edinburgh Agroecology Coop To get to the farm:
The main farm entrance is off the Toby Carvery Car Park (Lauriston Farm Road)
The postcode is EH4 5EX.

Lauriston Farm (run by Edinburgh Agroecology Co-op) is growing fresh food for North Edinburgh once again! 'Agroecology' means the farm is a place for wildlife and community too - please get involved. The gate is in the farthest corner from the car park entrance. Please walk, wheel or cycle, or use public transport whenever possible, for the sake of all the creatures of the area! Buses: 16, 27, 29 and 37 all come very close to the farm - within a few minutes walk from the bus stop

Would you like to volunteer in our seed patches?

The farm produces a lot of its own seed because we know that if we produce our seed well, it makes for way healthier plants than anything we buy. Seed learns to adapt to our soil and climate. Year-on-year we produce more seed, and hopefully get better at it!

We could do with some extra hands with this year's seed crops to give them the best chance of success. If you're interested in helping out and learning more about seed production...

Upcoming volunteering sessions are Friday 15, 22 and 29 May 9:30am (finishes 11:30am).

There are a few spaces left on the morning course this year. If you would like to learn how to grow your own food and can join us Mondays 10am-12 (from 11 May to 15 June) we can teach you all you need to know to get started...

This is a fun and practical course in our community garden plot. No reading or written work needed. By the end of the six weeks, you’ll come away knowing how to grow amazing fresh food with no pesticides. All while being out in the fresh air surrounded by healthy plants, friendly folk, and beautiful views.

Who is This For?
This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to grow vegetables using wildlife-friendly methods (no pesticides). You don’t need to have your own garden – you can use these skills in any community growing space. The teaching is aimed at adults but you’re welcome to attend with a baby or young child.

If you're in Granton and have any space to grow food or flowers, pop along to the library for your free seeds ⬇️. You could join the library's Great Granton Gourdathon, and try growing your own beautiful local variety of gourd.

This is a new seed library for the community... We've put a variety of seeds from the farm into the library, and you can also donate any spares if you have them, so we build a community-owned stash of seeds for all.

(And if you don't have space of your own to plant seeds, try joining in with Granton Community Gardeners)

We were so excited by seeing the amazing Granton Gourd that Lisa brought in last week. Now we're going to see what we can grow ourselves in Granton and we invite you to join us! Just ask at the desk if you would like a seed from the seed library to try out for yourself. We'll show off our gourds in September at a library village show!

Progress underway in the new Flourish Garden! And if this looks like fun to you, you can get involved in helping bring the garden to life...

We are making a new therapeutic garden, within the Community Allotments & Garden. It will be based around a pond which was dug out last year, but is yet to be filled or planted. The space will also include seating, raised beds, medicinal herbs, arts and crafts plants, and sensory planting. You can get involved with pond development, planting and propagating, path building, willow weaving, dead hedging, and raised bed building.

Open volunteering sessions on Wednesdays in May (1pm start). You don't need previous experience to join in. We’ve got outdoor work kit you can borrow, plus gloves, and we supply all the tools.

A big thanks to the group from The Welcoming Edinburgh for the great session in these photos.

It's nesting season! If you're walking at the farm, especially with dogs, please be aware we have ground nesting birds - including skylark, curlew and grey partridge. For them, the farm is home and this is the crucial breeding season. Sadly, dogs scare birds away from their nests, and can also be a danger to chicks. You can prevent this by sticking to paths, and keeping dogs close to you and away from the longer grass and wilder areas
