Coming up at Sahara Studio 🔆 Transformational Connection & Surrendered Leadership
23–25 October 2026 · Edinburgh

What becomes possible when we slow down, become more present to our experience, and meet each other from there?

Join us for a weekend exploring presence, embodied awareness, connection and group process.

We’ll begin with simple practices of noticing our present experience and connecting more deeply with another person. From there we’ll explore bringing the same quality of awareness into the larger group through Surrendered Leadership.

Surrendered Leadership involves listening to ourselves, each other and what is emerging in the group. We explore the balance between leading and being led, following what wants to unfold while also making space for conscious choice and intention.

There is something of conscious dance or improvisation in the practice. It’s also quite difficult to explain in words and really has to be experienced to begin to understand it.

The weekend may particularly appeal to people interested in mindfulness, embodied awareness, authentic relating, conscious dance and group process. No previous experience is necessary.

Transformational Connection & Surrendered Leadership
23–25 October 2026 · Edinburgh

What becomes possible when we slow down, become more present to our experience, and meet each other from there?

We’re running a weekend exploring Transformational Connection and Surrendered Leadership, working with presence, embodied awareness and what happens when we bring these qualities into our relationships with other people and into a group.

We begin with quite simple practices, noticing what we are sensing, feeling and experiencing right now. From there we explore connecting with another person, experiencing them more deeply and allowing ourselves to be seen and witnessed more directly and fully than we usually are in everyday social situations.

As the weekend develops, we bring this kind of mindful, relational awareness into the larger group through the practice we call Surrendered Leadership.

Surrendered Leadership is quite difficult to explain succinctly and really has to be experienced to begin to understand it. It involves allowing what wants to emerge in a group to unfold, exploring the balance between leading and being led, and trusting our emerging experience while also making space for conscious intentions and choices.

There is something of conscious dance or improvisation in the practice. We listen to the body, notice impulses and feelings, and explore how our own expression meets that of other people and the group as a whole.

The weekend may particularly appeal to people interested in mindfulness, embodied awareness, authentic relating, conscious dance, group process or other forms of experiential personal development. No previous experience is necessary.

Friday 23 October: 6pm to 9pm
Introductory evening workshop. Optional, although we strongly encourage everyone attending the weekend to come if they can.

Saturday 24 October: 10am to 6pm
Sunday 25 October: 10am to 6pm

The weekend will be facilitated by Edinburgh-based Diarmid Baillie and Ruth Friedman, together with Ben Hodgson, a TC senior leader based in London.

Unseeing is all about body movement and letting our mind become calm. Candle light only, you will be guided through a slow flowing vinyasa yoga class. We will start calm, build some energy before letting the body relax into intuitive movement. The music becomes your guide, eyes closed you move as you want. The body wants a stretch, so you let it. It wants stillness so you let it, or it needs energy so you let the rhythm take over.
