Yesterday, colleagues attended the National Youth Justice Conference, joining partners and practitioners from across the sector to explore how children in conflict with the law experience the justice system.

Discussions examined some of the key structural, social and systemic challenges that shape those experiences, drawing on Scottish and UK-wide evidence, practice learning and the expertise of those working directly with children, young people, families and communities.

Thank you to the organisers, speakers and everyone who contributed to such a thoughtful and engaging day.

Judicial training on domestic abuse used to be a closely guarded state secret. A new step forward in transparency was announced today, with the Judicial College making this information public for the first time. I've long called for better training - and greater transparency on domestic abuse training across the judiciary and legal profession.
Finally some progress has been made! 🄳
"The Right Honourable Lady Justice King DBE, chair of the Judicial College, writes in her foreword: ā€œAlongside the prospectus, we are publishing an overview of training in domestic abuse for magistrates and judges in the family and criminal courts. It explains, for the first time, how training in domestic abuse is embedded across the curriculum."

Following the end of a relationship, Darren entered a new relationship with another man. While the relationship began positively, it quickly became abusive.
