As we go forth from Pentecost, we continue with our weekly prayers from Calum Martin, Church Engagement Officer.

As people who on Earth do dwell
Let us sing to You with cheerful voice
Let us serve You joyfully, bringing mercy
Let our actions sing Your praise in building justice
Let us do Your will, such that all may rejoice in it.

Help us to remember that you are our Creator
Not just of one or another of us alone, but of all this world
Let us give thanks that You take us all as Your flock
Let us give thanks that You give enough to feed all Your sheep
Let us do such to ensure that as You desire, all creation can be fed

And Loving God
We come before You this day
Praising and lauding
That Your mercy never fails
That Your hand is always open
That Your call to justice endures
even when we fear we cannot.

We uplift the works of Your kingdom this morning as we pray.

Amen

Loving God

When the sun sets, and the night closes in, how lost we can feel
Reaching out, stumbling to find our way forwards
but we give thanks that however dim the night, You are there to take our hand

To give us the strength to press on through
To give us the courage to help one another
To give us the love to keep journeying together
With one another, and with You

Afterall, for all that the night is long
Your presence is as sure as the dawn
And You are with us not because we know our way in the dark
But because You know we get lost, we stumble, we need healing guidance

For You know every bird that flits through the air
Every ray of light that pierces the night at sunrise
Every heart on earth that waits fearfully for a new day

And for each, Your presence is as sure as the dawn

Amen

As we go forth from Pentecost, we continue with our weekly prayers from Calum Martin, Church Engagement Officer.

Loving God
You, who are with us always,
How majestic is your name in all the earth!

You made a world with room for all, and declared that it was good
As you call us back to care for it properly, may your Spirit be with us.

You know and care for every name and voice, and breathed life into each heart
As you call us back to serve one another, may your Spirit be with us.

You have drawn us all together, and shared a commission to bring justice and love
As you call us back to build your kingdom here, may your Spirit be with us.

Loving God
You, who are with us always,
How majestic is your name
In all the earth, and in all our hearts

Amen

What an amazing Christian Aid Week it was – up and down the country you held coffee mornings, plant and book sales, concerts and more. It was brilliant to see so many churches coming together to fundraise and speak up for justice!

We managed to visit just a few of the fantastic events taking place across Scotland. The atmosphere everywhere was brilliant, and we all thoroughly appreciated the warmth of the reception we received when we visited churches to speak about the life-giving work of Christian Aid.

Thank you does not even begin to cover it – but thank you nonetheless. Check back in the autumn for fundraising totals for the appeal.

Tricia was all set to take part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk for Christian Aid but sadly had to pull out due to a foot injury. Undeterred Tricia decided to celebrate her birthday in a different style this year by asking for a donation to Christian Aid instead of a gift and by hosting a Coffee Morning and an Afternoon Tea on her birthday! Tricia raised the wonderful sum of £1,020. Thank you Tricia ❤️

Loving God

How many different voices will speak across creation
Different languages, different places, different times
Beyond our knowing, beyond even our counting

Yet each is heard by You
You hear each cry. You know every voice.

We give thanks, that when your Holy Spirit moves in our land
That in our different voices, different languages, different ways
We can all join as one in your song

Raising voices, words and deeds all together in your Spirit
To speak of your love
To sing of your justice
To tell of, and build your Kingdom

This Pentecost, let us not be silent
But let your spirit move in our land
So that all may hear of your love.
Let your spirit move in our land
That all may join your justice song.
Let your spirit move in our land
and through all creation.

Amen
