Are you ready to take your children’s rights practice further?

Join our full day training session to deepen your understanding of the five principles of a Children’s Human Rights Approach, with dedicated time to explore each one in detail and apply it to your work.

You’ll learn how to:

🔸 Use tools like Child Rights Impact Assessments and child rights budgeting
🔸 Support babies, children and young people to have equal access to their rights
🔸 Share information in ways that are clear, accessible and age-appropriate
🔸 Deliver high quality, child friendly participation
🔸 Act on feedback and ensure children can challenge decisions that affect them

The Poverty Alliance Challenge Poverty Week 2026 comes at a pivotal moment. Following vital elections in Scotland and across the UK, long-held political consensus around issues such as child poverty, climate action, homelessness and support for people seeking asylum is being increasingly challenged.

For campaigners, activists and organisations working for a just and equal society, this raises urgent questions. How do we continue to build public support for progressive change? How do we respond when once-shared assumptions are contested more loudly? And how can we make a compelling case for the Scotland we want to see? This a conversation you are going to want to be part of.

The Poverty Alliance are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker for our Annual Challenge Poverty Week Lecture 2026 will be Asad Rehman, Chief Executive of Friends Of The Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Asad has nearly 4 decades of experience in campaigning for environmental, social and racial justice, with a deep understanding of how these struggles are inextricably linked.

Together (Scottish Alliance for Children's Rights) has published a response to the UK Government's consultation on the packaging, display and sale of to***co products and vapes. Our response focuses on aspects of the proposals which are most relevant for children's rights as enshrined under the UNCRC.

Drawing from international guidance, research by Children's Parliament and Action on Smoking and Health and ASH Scotland, and academic publications, our submission expresses support for the proposals for stricter regulations on the packaging, display, and sale of vapes and e-cigarettes, with a view to reducing the appeal and accessibility of such products to children and young people. Children and young people must be equipped with a deeper understanding of the health-related consequences associated with vapes and e-cigarettes, so that they are able to make informed decisions about their bodies and lifestyles as they increasingly encounter such products and substances.

We therefore call on the UK Government to conduct a Child Rights Impact Assessment (CRIA) of the packaging, display and sale of vapes and e-cigarettes to ensure that regulation adequately protects children and young people from harmful substances, reduces the appeal and accessibility of these products, and upholds their rights to health, information and education.
