Classical Concert Promoter Bringing the “Absolute” best Classical music to you wherever you are!

It is our mission at Absolute Classics to provide our audiences and young people with high quality musical opportunities. We do this by presenting a ten-day summer festival in August, a monthly series running from September to March and hosting an extensive education programme. Due to the vast geography of our region, Dumfries and Galloway, Absolute Classics places particular focus on reaching those who face significant barriers in accessing cultural events. Through strategic programming, using venues that are in accessible locations throughout the county, we have been able to improve access for more of our communities. We have created a network of locations whereby audience members will never have to travel more than thirty minutes to hear one of our concerts. These events also provide a place to come together with friends, socialise and meet new members of the community. In total we host fifty concerts per year in addition to our education work. Hosting this number of events allows us to interact with our audience members and be more connected with those supporting our work. Join us this weekend for our Season opening concerts

Our 2026 Season begins this coming weekend, 25 to 27 September, with three chamber concerts across the region.

Clémence de Forceville violin, Benedict Klöckner cello and Oxana Shevchenko piano bring two masterpieces of the piano trio repertoire, Brahms Trio in B major and Schubert Trio in E flat. Music of real scale and intimacy, and the kind that feels especially alive when you hear it close up.

Big hearted chamber music, in three beautiful venues.

We are delighted to welcome an exceptional trio to Absolute Classics this September: Clémence de Forceville, violin, Benedict Kloeckner, cello, and Oxana Shevchenko, piano.

Their programme brings together two masterpieces that feel made for an autumn afternoon. Brahms’ Piano Trio in B major, Op. 8 opens with warmth and sweep, then after the interval comes Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 2 in E flat major, music of immense tenderness and quiet power.

Benedict Kloeckner is one of the leading cellists of his generation, appearing in major halls from the Berlin Philharmonie to Carnegie Hall. Clémence de Forceville is widely recognised as one of the most promising French violinists of her generation, praised for her range and musical intelligence. Oxana Shevchenko, winner of First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition, brings a rare combination of artistry and sensitivity to the piano part.

Netherby Hall has a particular kind of quiet before a concert. Not silence exactly, more a held breath. The last light outside the windows, the sense of people arriving from lanes and villages and the edge of the city, all of us stepping into the same room with the same hope that something might shift, even just for an hour.

On Friday 25th September, that room will fill with three voices that know how to speak to one another. Clémence de Forceville’s violin, Benedict Kloeckner’s cello, and Oxana Shevchenko at the piano. Chamber music is intimate by nature, but in a place like this it feels even closer, as if the music is being made not for a crowd, but for a community.

Brahms’ Trio in B major opens the evening with warmth and urgency, music that feels like conversation at its most honest. After the interval, Rachmaninov’s Trio No. 2 brings a different weather entirely, grief and tenderness and that unmistakable sweep, as if the heart is trying to say more than words can hold.

This is why it matters that world class music comes here, not just to the big cities. Because our region deserves nights like this. Because beauty and depth should not be something you have to travel far to find. Because when we gather in a hall like Netherby, we are reminded that culture is not elsewhere. It is right here, where we live.
