At our Annan Stay, Play and learn session we have been enjoying exploring our wooden claves and learning to tap them together using both hands.

🎶Doing so helps develop hand eye co-ordination and motor skills.🎶

This week we enjoyed soaking up some September sunshine at our Dumfries and Lochmaben buggy walks.
These are an excellent way to combine getting active with making new friends as well as sharing parenting experiences.
It was lovely to welcome two dads to the group too.

It was lovely to start a new block of Womb to Move sessions at Beattock and Tundergarth today.
This week we went under the sea and explored some blue items. 🐳
Our sensory tray contained some sea creatures and blue spaghetti, perfect for giving those little fingers a work out and improving finger strength and control.

We also enjoyed exploring some crinkling sounds when grasping crisp packets.

DID YOU KNOW?

⭐Crinkling sounds can be calming for babies and introducing them is a great way to grasp their attention, supporting cognitive development.
⭐The rustling sound produced can help sooth and relax a baby.

There were also opportunities tickle tiny toes with the feathers and watch flashing sensory balls.

We ended the session with some lovely lycra play with scarves and a song about the waves on the beach.🌊

Bookbug enjoyed his last session at Eskrigg this week where Ali and bookbug invited the families to share their favourite songs during the session.

He has loved travelling with you over the past eight weeks. Next week he will be meeting new families at Georgetown and Annan for more singing, rhyming and sharing stories.
Oh and let's not forget the lycra play!

Today we enjoyed a lovely buggy walk at Castle Loch, Lochmaben. The woods here are a haven for a host of learning opportunities.
Our little explorers gathered sticks, leaves and flowers and we discussed their colour and size. 🍂🌼

A natural environment is a great way to introduce early mathematical concepts such a size and shape.

Buggy walks are a great way to meet mums whilst keeping fit.
