We will be hosting a fantastic concert in our beautiful Cresset Hall on Sunday the 15th of November. It's the brilliant Beth Malcolm with her band, bring her show Folkmosis to us.

It's a beautiful piece of music and story telling and really brings home our connections to folk in the widest sense - to the land, the songs and music and the people of Scotland.

These are the sounds, the songs
I drank up as a wee one
Drunk on milk and auld Scots song
I slept, and cried, and wailed along
My folkmosis had begun.’

‘FOLKMOSIS’ is Beth Malcolm's second album and the story of her musical coming of age. Songs woven together by spoken word, it is an autobiographical tale of a young Scottish female artist finding her place in the musical world. Beth Malcolm takes the listener on a journey from the traditional music she was brought up with, to an eclectic mix of electronic, Caledonian-soul and jazz that was the soundtrack of her teenage years. Culminating with Beth’s unique and eclectic modern-folk sound, ‘FOLKMOSIS’ explores what it means to belong. It celebrates the connections we have to land and language through our shared music, and reminds us that the songs of Scotland and its people will always be there to bring us home when we feel a little lost.

We came together for our Harvest meal, spending the day preparing in small groups, making soup, apple crumble, baking bread and setting the tables in the hall. In the evening we all sat down around beautifully laid tables, chatting to each other and enjoying this special Community, listening to a story, songs and tunes.
The Harvest Table was absolutely beautiful and a culmination of a year of labour, laughter, tears and friendship.
Happy Michaelmas and Harvest time to everyone!
Thank you for the fantastic photos, Jonah Salthammer!

A walk up Lotus Hill with Dave and David and a group of enthusiastic young volunteers - they started at 7.15am in the morning, but it looks like it was well worth it!
