🎉 The faces you see and the people who make your visit special. Today we’re celebrating our amazing Front of House Teams 🎉

These are the volunteers who turn a day out into a great experience!
☕ Café Team – serving up tasty treats and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes with all the important food hygiene work.
🛍️ Shop Team – keeping shelves stocked, spotting what visitors love, and always ready with a friendly smile.
🎟️ Welcome Team – your first hello! Handing out wristbands and making sure you’ve got everything you need for a brilliant visit.
📖 Museum Guides – full of fascinating knowledge and brilliant stories, bringing our exhibits to life. They also take Crewe Heritage Centre out on the road, giving talks and representing us at events.

Together, they are the heart of the visitor experience — friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help 🌟So why not pop down to see them tomorrow from 10am and make sure to say hello!

🎉 Some of our volunteers are so dedicated they’re almost impossible to spot! Today we’re celebrating our brilliant Model Railway Team! 🎉

These volunteers keep our model railway layouts running smoothly and looking their best, maintaining every tiny detail so visitors can enjoy the magic 🚂

There’s just one problem…they’re incredibly camera shy! So shy, in fact, we barely have any photos of them in action 👀

Think you can spot them “in the wild”? Come down and see if you can catch them from 10am tomorrow! If you do spot one… let us know! 👀

🎉 It takes a whole team to keep Crewe Heritage Centre looking its best… so today we're celebrating our incredible Behind the Scenes Teams 🎉

These volunteers are the ones making sure everything runs smoothly, often quietly, but always brilliantly!

🔧 Maintenance Team – fixing, building, painting and tackling all the jobs that keep the site safe, welcoming and running day to day
🌿 Green Team – keeping our outdoor spaces looking fantastic, including caring for 400+ new plants and the six new gardens and wildlife areas we’ve recently created
📦 Collections Team – looking after the heart of our history, carefully cataloguing and photographing our objects so we know what we have and can share it with future generations.

Together, they make sure Crewe Heritage Centre isn’t just open, it’s thriving 🌟

🎉 Not all heroes wear hi-vis… some sit around board tables and give up their free time to do it! Today we’re celebrating our Trustees 🎉

While you might not always see them on the front line, their impact is everywhere. These volunteers work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep Crewe Heritage Centre running, legal and compliant. They’re shaping our future by building strategy, creating opportunities, and making sure the Heritage Centre continues to grow into a visitor attraction worthy of Crewe’s incredible history 🚂

🎉 It’s Volunteers’ Week and today we’re celebrating some true specialists...Our Signallers! 🎉

This team brings serious skill and experience to Crewe Heritage Centre with many of them having worked on the railways before volunteering with us. Their knowledge of Crewe’s signalling and our historic signal boxes is nothing short of awe-inspiring. They don’t just operate them, they bring the railway’s story to life for our visitors every single day. From pulling levers to sharing stories, they help keep Crewe’s railway heritage alive, authentic and unforgettable.

The team have made Crewe A Cabin their new home while we work with our landlords on essential maintenance in North Junction Box, so you can still experience their expertise up close.

🎉 Happy Volunteers’ Week! 🎉

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who keep Crewe Heritage Centre moving! We’re proudly volunteer-led which means every memory made here is thanks to people giving their time, skills, and passion. In 2025 alone, our volunteers gave an amazing 4,548 hours 🙌

All week, we’ll be shining a spotlight on the brilliant teams behind the scenes and today, we’re starting with a BIG one…Our Miniature Railway Team!

These legends run our much-loved miniature railway but that’s just the beginning. They’ve literally helped build Crewe Heritage Centre. The team:
🔨 Designed and built our welcome area, shop, café, kids space & exhibition sets
🌿 Helped rewild the miniature line and transform shed spaces into green havens
🛠️ Keep everything compliant and running safely
🏁 AND somehow still find time to build and race our Krazy Races carts!
Honestly… we’d be lost without them.

Something new is blooming along the Miniature Railway… 🌸👀

Our volunteers have been busy transforming Forge End with help from and corporate volunteers from using some of the funding from The Julia Rausing Trust.

The old signal box has now been turned into a new potting shed. And that’s just the start…
🌼 Wildflower Way has been seeded and is set to burst into colour this summer
🦋 Butterfly Bank has been packed with plants our pollinators will love
💜 Lavender Lane smells as good as it sounds

They are all designed to boost biodiversity and recreate the kind of wildlife corridors you’d spot along the mainline.

Next time you visit, ride the Miniature and see what you can spot! We’re open from 10am tomorrow!

And the best bit? This is exactly the kind of thing you can spot from our viewing platform! With views across the West Coast Main Line, Chester Line and Manchester Line, there’s always something on the move 👀
