Here at The Click we encourage our students to find what interests them the most and use that as a way to express themselves.

I’ve been teaching this club member photography even before The Click was official. While we looked at photographer Liv took a liking to Karl Blossfeldt and his work. With a love of flowers and plants already, she bought that into her photography.

Taking the inspiration from the world famous photographer and making it her own by adjusted edits Liv create a series of photographs that I am so proud of (and when I talk about the clubs I always bring this image up and show them to whoever is near, but please don’t tell her that 😊)

Now going into her GCSE photography I know she going to ace it.

NEW PHOTOGRAPHY ADVENTURE COMING TO THE CLICK?

I’m thinking about launching a 4-week Outdoor Photography Club this November!

Each week, we’ll explore a different location around Chesterfield, including Linacre Reservoirs, Tapton and Holmebrook Valley Park, discovering creative ways to photograph landscapes, wildlife, reflections, textures and all the little details we might otherwise miss. 🌳📷

Our final session will return to the studio, where we’ll learn to edit our favourite photographs using iPads.

☔ And don’t worry — we won’t let a little British weather stop us! Sometimes the rain makes for the best photographs.

📅 Saturday mornings | 10am–12pm
💷 £48 for four sessions (£44 for existing Click members)
Ages 8-15

PHOTOGRAPHY TRIP

📸 TAPTON HOUSE – SATURDAY 17TH OCTOBER

I’ve been up to Tapton House this weekend to have a look around and plan our route, and I’m really looking forward to this one!

Unlike some of our usual trips, there won’t be as much walking, and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop, relax in different areas and take our time with our photography.

There’s a surprising amount to explore, including:

🌿 Peaceful gardens – details, close-ups and quieter compositions.

🌄 Landscapes and views – including some lovely views across Chesterfield.

🏚️ Decayed urban photography – a great opportunity for anyone who hasn’t finished their CONTRAST project yet.

🌳 Woodland – textures, patterns, natural details and wildlife.

🏛️ Architecture – interesting structures, shapes and details.

🐿️ Wildlife – there are plenty of squirrels (tree rats!) around, so anyone who wants to sit quietly and wait might get some great opportunities for wildlife photography. I also spotted a huge heron landing in the fish pond!

There are lots of different ways to approach this location, so hopefully everyone will find something that interests them.

A few important things to know before we go:

🚗 Drop-off: Please drop members off at the bottom car park, next to the playground.

🥾 Footwear: The grounds are very hilly, with some steep and muddy sections. Sensible footwear is essential, and walking boots are a good idea if you have them.

🧥 Clothing: Wear layers that are easy to take off and carry. The weather can change quickly, so please bring a waterproof coat too.

🥤 Food and drink: Feel free to bring snacks and something to drink.

🌦️ Weather: We’re going ahead regardless of the weather, so please make sure everyone is dressed appropriately.

⛳ Golf course: Our route to the fish pond will take us across part of the golf course. We’ll take care when crossing and be mindful of golfers.

Could you please confirm whether your child will be attending by Thursday evening?

This will allow me to prepare a register and make sure I have everything organised for the day.

📷 THE CLICK: YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED!

I’ve had some great questions about The Click recently, so I thought I’d answer a few of them here!

📚 Do you help with GCSE and A Level Photography?

Absolutely! Our older groups run alongside GCSE and A Level studies. We explore techniques, discuss project ideas, learn photography terminology and look at photographers to inspire our work. I also offer 1:1 sessions for help with projects, portfolios and presentations.

🏡 Do you only have one Home Ed session?

At the moment, yes! Our Thursday session runs at 2pm and is nearly full, so I’m planning to introduce an additional Tuesday session at 2pm.

🚶 Do we have to attend the photography trips?

Not at all! All trips are optional and have a separate fee from monthly club membership. They’re a great way to explore new places, get out and about, and meet members from our other clubs. Members also receive a discount on trips.

📸 Do you have to be a member to join a photography walk?

Nope! Everyone is welcome. Walks are a great way to meet new people, get to know The Click and see what we’re all about. You don’t need to join a club first.

👋 Do you offer adult photography sessions?

Not currently, but I’d love to! If there’s enough interest, I’m happy to explore running sessions for adults too.

FREE first session.

If you know of any budding photographers who would love to learn more about the art of photography and learning new skills, then The Click Creative has two sessions a week dedicated to young photographers.

Bring a camera, phone and learn through experimenting, playing games and how to get the best out of your images.

It’s not only photography skills, the sessions aim to build confidence in your young one.

Also, Hi. I’m Rob and I’ve been running these photography clubs for 3 years (in Nov) and before that I ran some school enrichments in the primary school I work at. I have experience with working with children including SEN.
I’m fully DBS checked,insured, paediatric first aid and safe guarding trained.

I like to make sure the sessions are relaxed and enjoyable and always aim to bring out the confidence in all club members.

I believe photography can be used for art, expression and great for mental health by slowing down and noticing the world around you.

Photography has been part of my life since I was 12, and I now have over 34 years of experience behind the camera.

When I was younger, there wasn’t a photography club for me to learn, experiment and meet other young people who loved photography too.

So I created The Click.

After working in a school since 2017, with experience supporting children with SEND, I wanted to create something that brings all of that together.

A place to learn photography, develop creative ideas, get GCSE and A Level support, and most importantly, slow down in a very fast-paced digital world.

The Click is the photography club I wish I’d had at 12.
