CHARM-Combined Hope and Aid Relief Mission We are a small charity based in Chesterfield. For 14 years we have been helping the poorest Malawians to get a better life by providing skills & training.

CHARM (Combined Hope and Aid Relief Mission)
Charity number: 1109155

We support a number of projects in Malawi including a tailoring school, a carpentry school, and a microloan project. The tailoring project has recently been able to expand into its own premises in the centre of Mulanje and now trains people from across the surrounding area. Both the tailoring project and carpentry project are

teaching local people a trade, enabling them to either gain employment or start their own business with their new skills. The items the students make provide a range of reduced rate items for the community to purchase, increasing opportunity, competition, variety and boost overall moral. The profits from the sale of these items are ploughed back into the project to keep it running and expanding, creating self-sustaining projects once they are up and running. Please view our photo tab to see items that have been produced and sold. The microloan project began in connection with Hope Missions and is centered around the towns of Selima and Mulanje in Malawi. The microloan project has a sn*******ng effect, as each loan attracts an interest rate and so each time a loan is paid back, more money goes into the pot to be re-invested into additional microloans. We are currently fundraising to set up new projects including a Tinsmith and computer school. Please visit our website for more information: www.charm.org.uk

Brick by brick, we are building more than structures: we are building skills, dignity and a future of opportunity. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance.”

FROM TRAINEE TO TRAILBLAZER 🌟 | THE INSPIRING STORY OF JENNIFER NYASALAND
Meet Jennifer Nyasaland, a proud mother of two and one of Charm’s shining success stories! 🙌

Back in 2014, Jennifer joined our Welding and Fabrication class after being recommended by a respected village elder who believed in her potential. With courage and determination, she embraced the training, proving that passion and hard work can break every barrier.

After graduating, Jennifer didn’t wait for opportunities to come her way; she created them. She started her own welding business, utilizing the skills she learned at Charm. What began as a small workshop has now grown into a thriving business.

Today, Jennifer’s life tells a powerful story of transformation. Her ability to start and successfully manage her own business in a field often dominated by men has inspired many women and young people. Through her hard work, she has built a beautiful home, owns a number of goats, and continues to provide for her family with pride and dignity. Her success is not just personal; it’s a reflection of how vocational training empowers communities and helps lift people out of poverty.

Even more inspiring, Jennifer is now passing on her skills to others. She dedicates part of her time to training young people, especially girls, in welding and fabrication, helping them build livelihoods of their own. Through her mentorship, she is multiplying the impact of the skills she once acquired at Charm.

Despite her success, Jennifer’s dream doesn’t end here. She hopes to expand her business, take on bigger projects, employ more young people, and continue inspiring others. Her ambitions, however, are currently limited due to a lack of sufficient capital. With the right financial support, there’s no doubt she could take her business to even greater heights.

Her story stands as a shining example of how, when people, especially women, are given the right training and encouragement, they not only transform their own lives but also become catalysts for community and national development.

Jennifer Nyasaland is not just a graduate of the 2014 class; she is a living symbol of transformation, courage, and the power of hard work guided by purpose.

We're proud of you, Jennifer.
