HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY TO THE CHESTERFIELD CANAL TRUST.

The forerunner of the trust was established 50 years ago, on this day, 30th September 1976. The original Chesterfield Canal Society became a trust in 1998.

So it’s happy 50th birthday to the society and trust, who have done so much to revive the fortunes of the canal.

Dropping through canal trust members’ letter boxes is the latest edition of the Chesterfield Canal Trust’s ‘The Cuckoo’ magazine.

It includes articles on current progress and canal history. Chief amongst the latter is a history of the trust and its predecessor society.

One of the benefits of being a member of the trust is receiving a free copy of The Cuckoo, which is published seasonally, plus the satisfaction of supporting restoration of the canal itself.
