Chief Scout Dwayne Fields joined 6th Gosport (Rowner) Air Scout Group at HMS Sultan as they proudly received The King’s Award for Voluntary Service from the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire.

The award, the highest honour for voluntary groups in the UK, recognises over 100 years of outstanding service to young people and the local community. Dwayne met with young people and volunteers, celebrating the dedication, teamwork and commitment that make such a special part of Scouting.

Congratulations to everyone at 6th Gosport on this well-deserved recognition! 👏⚜️

Hampshire Explorer Scout Louis Bridges has been awarded the Chief Scout’s Commendation for Meritorious Conduct in recognition of his exceptional courage, leadership, and calm action during a serious road traffic incident on 25 March.

Huge congratulations to Sophie Smith from Gosport on achieving the prestigious Super Scout Award! 🎉

This incredible honour recognises completing all four of Scouting’s top awards. A true testament to Sophie’s dedication, resilience, and adventurous spirit.

As part of her journey, Sophie has taken on some amazing challenges:
🌍 Completed her Explorer Belt in Estonia, embracing new cultures and experiences

🌱 Led a Scouts of the World Award project focused on “Life on Land and Water,” helping to educate others about the impact of plastic waste

🏕️ Undertook her Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the rugged landscapes of New Galloway, Scotland

🧶 For her King’s Scout Award, she learned to knit and created hats and baby clothing for others

Each of these achievements represents hard work, commitment, and a desire to make a positive difference, values at the very heart of Scouting.

Well done Sophie, an inspiring accomplishment and something to be incredibly proud of! 👏

We just had to share these fantastic pictures out of the Backwoods cooking skills session yesterday afternoon! 🤩

Together, volunteers both new and experienced, learned a variety of techniques for cooking over an open fire and created some fantastically ambitious and delicious dishes. It's enough to make your mouth water!

Another fantastic skills weekend is underway at Ferny Crofts as volunteers from all over the county met up to share stories, try something new, and grow as leaders.

Skills tackled today include axe, knife and saw skills, cooking on an open fire, how to use knots in the programme, craft with paranoid, First response, and positive behaviour tips.

The Hampshire Scouts Adult Learning team run a number of weekends through the year to prepare our volunteers to teach skills for life over and above the Growing Roots eLearning.

Join Hampshire Scout Heritage for Heritage Fest, their most ambitious event yet!

It's a free event, open to young people and adults both within and from outside of Scouting, and it all happens on Saturday 11th April 2026, between 10am and 5pm at 1st Chandler's Ford Scout hall.
