Volunteer Spotlight: Chris, a Beaver volunteer in Denmead.

Volunteering for Beavers is incredibly rewarding. Not only are we providing the young people with fun and adventures they wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to do, but we are also teaching them about friendship and teamwork. They also learn valuable skills, quite often without realising it. But the main reason I volunteer for Beavers is it is great fun. Not only do the young people get a lot out of it, we as adults do also.

The search is on for Hampshire Scouts' next County Lead Volunteer!

It's all about playing a pivotal role within local Scouting, providing inspiring leadership and support across all 19 Districts in the County.

We believe that Scouting has the power to transform lives, and with over 19,000 young people in Hampshire this role is central to ensuring that Scouting is accessible to every young person - regardless of faith, background, or circumstances - and that they enjoy a high-quality, balanced programme that is challenging, rewarding, and relevant to their needs.

Plus, the County Lead Volunteer works with other volunteers in Hampshire Scouts to lead and support the team of District Lead Volunteers and through them the over 9,000 adult volunteers in Hampshire.

If you know the right person for the role, or want to find out more, you can apply or nominate someone on the Scouts website.

Volunteer Spotlight: Jenny, a Squirrel volunteer in Pamber Heath.

'Becoming a Leader in Squirrel Scouts has been a really enjoyable experience. Watching the little ones grow and learn, and move on to Beavers has been great.'

Volunteer Spotlight: Charlie, a Scout leader and Squirrel team member in Andover.

My favourite thing about September is the start of a new scouting term! The first session back feels like a family reunion as everyone shares what they've been up to over summer and what they would like to achieve in the next term. It's wonderful to see excitement from the scouts about what sessions they have coming up. Having us all back together again makes those cold winter nights a little more fun for everyone and I can't wait to get back to it!
