We’re looking forward to our upcoming Spring Meeting on Friday 8th May, set in the beautiful surroundings of the Balmer Lawn Hotel 🌿

We’re especially excited that proprietors Chris & Alison Wilson will be joining us to share the fascinating history behind this iconic hotel. It promises to be a wonderful blend of heritage, hospitality, and great company.

We can’t wait to see everyone there!

Important Notice – MUGA Opening

The MUGA can only be opened if we have a responsible person available to close it at the end of use.
If we do not have someone to close the MUGA, it will remain closed, as leaving it open presents a risk of breaching planning conditions.
We are therefore looking for volunteers who would be willing to take on this role.

Requirements:
Must be 18 years old or over
Able to attend at agreed times to ensure the MUGA is securely closed
If you are able to help, please get in touch with us at:

The boys are coming! From Monday 11th May for up to 6 weeks🐴❤️

Mares Get Ready: The New Forest’s Most Eligible Bachelors Are Arriving Soon.

From Monday 11th May for up to 6 weeks 25 of the most Eligible Bachelors will be turned out in The New Forest to do what they do best!! (Please, I don't have to explain do I?)

This is one of the most important 6 weeks for Forest run ponies, and the start of our next generation.

Mares will be VERY pleased to see them and will be herded into groups by the Boys.

So, Please remember your youth, and imagine what is the only thing going through their minds!
You, your vehicles, dogs and children are not it
Livestock will be crossing roads at speed, and in places you will least expect.

Keep Your Distance and if you want to take a photo, use the zoom.

Please help us keep them and everyone safe this breeding season.

As we come to the end of the weekend, with your help, the Friends of Brockenhurst have delivered over 1,800 Spring Newsletters to more than 1,650 homes and over 150 local businesses.

I spent time with my son delivering across many parts of the village and we really enjoyed meeting people, discovering new parts we haven’t visited before and chatting with residents. It’s a huge logistical exercise but worth it!

Thank you to all 16 volunteers and committee members - and thank you for the weather which was glorious 🌞

Thank you again

A meaningful moment in Brockenhurst as a small group gathered to mark the addition of Charles Godwin to our village war memorial.

Charles, a Brockenhurst resident and colonial Police chief, was tragically murdered in Malaya. The reason his name was omitted in 1954 remains unknown, but thanks to the dedication of the Friends of Brockenhurst, that omission has now been put right.

In a short and respectful ceremony, Rev. Alan Graham led prayers, joined by Charles’ son Mark, who travelled from Stockbridge. Also in attendance were FoB President Rachel Smith, Parish Council Chair Russell Horne, and historian David Bennett, whose research helped uncover this missing piece of history.

A small act of remembrance, but an important one. Lest we forget. ❤️
