Contact have arranged a round table meeting with Anna Dixon MP and are wanting families from Shipley to speak with Anna about experiences as a parent carer. See info below.....If you are interested in attending, please email [email protected], copy your email to [email protected], and include a brief description about yourself, why you want to attend and what you would like to share with Anna.

Families living in the Shipley constituency are invited to attend a Round Table face-to-face meeting with MP Anna Dixon, on Tuesday 25th August, to share the issues that matter to you.
As part our project ‘A Future For All’, families in Shipley and Bradford joined our woodland theatre show and workshop to discuss the issues that matter to them. We heard many families talk about experiences of being a parent carer, and the things that would help make life better for them and their child. Parents raised issues raised at the workshops including access to services and holiday activities for disabled children, accessible travel and access to green spaces for everyone.
We’re working with our partners, Hope for the Future, and arts education group REA, to help parents have their voices heard by politicians on the local issues that matter to families.
Join our meeting with Anna Dixon MP on Tuesday 25th August, to share your experience as a parent carer.

12 - 1pm - join Contact and Hope for the Future for a preparation session, to help you prepare to advocate about the issues that matter to you.
1 - 2pm - join the meeting with Anna Dixon MP.

The meeting will take place at Bradford New Church, Ashfield Ave, Frizinghall, Shipley BD18 3AL

And that's a wrap for our Shaping SEND events until September!

A big thank you to the parents and professionals who attended, including Debbie from Bradford Sendiass, our trustee Naomi and her lovely son!

This session touched on mental health support in schools, parent vs school application for an Educational Health & Care Plan as well as the need for consistent inclusion practices within schools in Bradford.

Dan also shared Bradford's plan ahead of the SEND Reforms and mentioned staff training as one of the key priorities for his team.

We Will hear more on this in September, so keep an eye out for the next session but for now the PFBA team will be winding down for the summer.

Please note, any pending max card applications will be sent this week by 17th July.

We have some sad news...

After months of reflection, we have decided to close our PRIVATE Facebook group...

We know that some of you find it really useful but we just haven't had the engagement we expected unfortunately.

With rapidly growing social media channels like Instagram and TikTok, we've decided that instead of a FB group, we will create a WhatsApp broadcast list.

What this means for you?

This means that we will use your name and number to add you to a private list which only PFBA admin can see and allow the admin to send out direct messages to each of you to keep you updated of future PFBA events, sessions and meetings.

Your number will NOT be shared with anyone else and it will not be a group but a regular private broadcast message you'll get from time to time directly to you directly.

Please email me at [email protected] if you'd like to be added.
We will keep the group open until September then phase it out soon after.

We thank you for your support and you can still find us on our main FB page, Instagram at @ parentsforumbradford as well as through our newsletter.

Thank you!

Invitation: Focus Group on Short Break Options for Unpaid Carers

Bradford Council is exploring new and improved short break options to better support unpaid carers in Adult Social Care.

As you recently completed the Carers' Breaks Survey and expressed an interest in future opportunities to share your views, We’d like to invite you to join a short focus group to share your experiences, ideas, and suggestions. This is also a great opportunity to meet commissioners and have direct conversations about how services are shaped.

The session is aimed at unpaid carers supporting adults, including those with young people approaching 18 who may be transitioning into adult services. (Please note this is not focused on Children’s Social Care, although there may be some overlap.)

Why take part?

Share your experiences as a carer
Meet commissioners and influence future services
Help shape carer support options in Bradford
Learn about future opportunities to be involved in commissioning activity

Date/Time: 30th of July 2026 10:00 – 13:00
Location: Banqueting Hall – City Hall – Bradford

To attend, please book your place via Eventbrite:
