🌿💛 Could a visit to a garden help you find a moment of peace?
A new Marie Curie poll reveals that 7 in 10 bereaved people say spending time in nature helps them process their grief and remember someone they have lost. Many also say gardens and green spaces help them feel calmer, comforted and better able to cope during life's most difficult moments.
As Marie Curie celebrates 30 years of partnership with the National Garden Scheme, we're encouraging everyone to discover the healing power of nature by visiting one of the thousands of beautiful gardens open across the UK this summer.
Whether you're looking for a place to reflect, recharge or simply enjoy some quiet time, why not plan a visit to a National Garden Scheme garden near you? 🌼🌿

Steps & Stories Memory Event ✨👣💛

On Wednesday 13th August, we held our very special 'Steps & Stories' Memory Event in Lister Park for children, young people and their families who are living with loss. 🌳

The event provided a safe and supportive space for families to come together for a gentle walk 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️, share memories 💭, and remember their special people 💛.

Through walking, talking 🗣️, and 'Bubbles of Love' 🫧💕, a reflective activity designed to help children, young people and their families remember and honour their special people in a gentle and meaningful way, participants were able to connect with others who have experienced bereavement 🤝. This helped to reduce feelings of isolation and promote emotional wellbeing 🌈.

The event was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the lives of loved ones 🕊️💖 and strengthen peer support within our community 🫂.

We finished the day with refreshments and treats in the café ☕🍰, giving families the chance to relax, reflect and spend time together.

It was so wonderful to welcome a very special gentleman back to Marie Curie on Tuesday 💛

After spending more than two weeks with us, Bob has now returned home but had one special request for his birthday - to come back to the hospice, bring cakes for the staff and celebrate with us because he was so grateful to be having his birthday 🎂💛

To make the day extra special, we dressed up the cosy corner and served tea in our special china teapot and cups, so Bob could enjoy tea and cake with his beautiful family. Moments like these remind us how special the bonds we build are and how much joy can be found in the simplest acts of kindness 💛

Happy Birthday Bob and thank you for sharing your special day with us💛

Today we’re wishing the very best of luck to Rocco as he finishes his incredible charity cycling challenge in support of Marie Curie. 💛🚴

Over the past year, Rocco has trained tirelessly to prepare for an amazing challenge – cycling 36 laps over 6 days to raise vital funds for us.

Supported every step of the way by his little sister, Felicity, Rocco is taking on this challenge in loving memory of their dad, who received care at our Bradford hospice

Every mile he cycles is a heartfelt tribute to his dad and will help Marie Curie continue providing expert care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and to the families who love them.

To Rocco and Felicity, we are incredibly proud of you both. Your strength, determination and love for your dad are truly inspiring, and everyone at Marie Curie will be cheering you on throughout your challenge.

Good luck, Rocco – we know you’re going to be amazing! 💛

If you’d like to support Rocco and Felicity by making a donation or sharing their fundraiser, every contribution, big or small, will help make a real difference to families when they need us most.

Thank you for helping to honour their dad’s memory and for supporting Marie Curie. 💛
