🚨 Early Start for Our New LSAR Volunteers! 🚨
A very early start this morning for five of our newest Lagan Search and Rescue (LSAR) volunteers, who completed their validation exercise at 5am!

Volunteering with LSAR takes commitment, dedication and a willingness to learn, and these early morning hours are all part of preparing our team to help keep the local community safe.

A huge well done to all five volunteers for their hard work and commitment. We’re delighted to see our team growing and look forward to seeing you continue your journey with LSAR! 💙❤️

🌊 Water Safety Visit to Carryduff Primary School! 🚤

Last Friday, Lagan Search and Rescue were delighted to join Choice Housing for a water safety visit with the P7 pupils at Carryduff Primary School

Our team enjoyed the opportunity to chat with the pupils about the importance of staying safe around water, sharing valuable advice and helping them understand the risks that our local waterways can present.

🚨 We covered some important water safety messages, including:
💧 Never go near water alone.
💧 Always tell someone where you are going.
💧 Know what to do if you or someone else gets into difficulty in the water.
💧 Remember Float to Live if you find yourself in the water unexpectedly.

A huge thank you to Carryduff Primary School for welcoming us, and to Choice Housing for working alongside us to help spread these important water safety messages.

At Lagan Search and Rescue, we believe that water safety education is vital in helping young people make informed decisions and stay safe around our waterways. 💙

Gilnahirk 30th Cubs Visit Lagan Search & Rescue
On Thursday 1st October, Gilnahirk 30th Cubs enjoyed an informative and engaging visit to our base, learning valuable life-saving skills and gaining an insight into the work of our volunteers.
The Cubs took part in sessions covering the Water Safety Code and Cold Water Shock, helping them understand how to stay safe around rivers, lakes, and the coast. They also learned about the importance of the "Float to Live" campaign, a simple but potentially life-saving technique that can help anyone who unexpectedly finds themselves in difficulty in the water.
The visit concluded with an opportunity to explore our emergency response vehicles and rescue equipment. The Cubs were fascinated to see first-hand the specialist tools and resources used by our teams during search and rescue operations.
A big thank you to all the Cubs, leaders, and volunteers who made the evening such a success. We hope the visit provided useful safety knowledge and inspired a greater understanding of the work carried out by Lagan Search & Rescue in our community.

Yesterday, some of our volunteers made the trip down to Dublin to support the annual Liffey Descent, joining other rescue and safety teams providing water safety cover along the route,.

It’s an event we’ve been proud to support for a number of years, and it was great to be back on the Liffey again for another busy day on the water!

A huge well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to all the volunteers and organisations involved in keeping competitors safe throughout the event.

Another great day for the LSAR crew!
