This Father’s Day, we want to take a moment to appreciate and remember the incredible men who embrace fatherhood with love, strength and compassion. Being a dad is a huge privilege as well as a responsibility, but for those who are navigating cancer, their partner's cancer or who have a child with cancer, it can carry its own unique challenges.

That’s why we are so passionate about providing support to fathers impacted by cancer across the island of Ireland. We’re committed to being here for you, so you can be there for your family💛

✨On this significant day we also extend our thoughts and sympathy to those families who are remembering a father today or for fathers who are grieving a child. We hope you find space to experience this day in a way that feels right for you.

We can’t let the kids have all the fun! 😂

During a recent day of Groupwork for the 8-11 year olds we support, we also held special activities for parents!

This was an amazing afternoon filled with fun activities and therapeutic exercises for all age groups, providing parents with a space to process and connect 💛

We recently shared that our wonderful Care Free Choir had been nominated for the BBC Radio Ulster & Radio Foyle Make a Difference Awards in the Community Group category, and we’re so proud to say they’ve made the final! 🥳

Our Care Free Choir provides families impacted by cancer with a shared space of support, community and connection through music. This recognition is truly special and so well deserved ✨

Nothing beats the outdoors!

Recently we welcomed the 8-11 year olds we support to a day of Groupwork at Castlecomer Discovery Park in Kilkenny 🌳🪴

This was an amazing afternoon filled with fun activities and therapeutic exercises that encouraged the young people to connect and share💛

Stepping things up! 👟

Throughout the month of May, our Health and Wellbeing Committee brought the energy with the ultimate Step Challenge, and what a fantastic effort from everyone involved!

Participants were split into six teams, bringing together colleagues from across the organisation, and the results were incredible. Even family members (and a few furry friends) got involved, making it a true celebration of wellbeing beyond the workplace.

Huge congratulations to our winners, Team 2, who topped the leaderboard with an outstanding 3,293,807 steps! What an achievement by Marnie, Jonny, Naomi, Nora, Shelly, Tori, Joanne, Heather, Joe and Cathy👏

A special shoutout to Tori who led the way individually with an impressive 635,647 steps, a phenomenal accomplishment, and to our weekly challenge winners Louise, Emma, Paris, Esther and Patsy🎉

Altogether, colleagues across the organisation clocked up an incredible 17,808,089 steps over the course of the challenge, a truly amazing collective achievement. Well done everyone!

On Tuesday this week we celebrated Power of Youth day, which calls on organisations, communities, and decision-makers to reflect on youth involvement in shaping society and to act on their voices 💛

One of our ambitions at Cancer Fund for Children is to ensure that children and young people impacted by cancer are seen and heard, and that we support them to be an active voice for change.

The theme for Power of Youth Day this year was with a focus on recognising young people’s skills, contributions, and leadership. We’ve been recognising these this week through online volunteer celebration events for our Youth Engagement Groups, attendance at the All-Party Group on Youth Participation at Stormont, one of our Young Ambassadors sharing their story for other young people at a school assembly, a celebration event for our graduating 8-11 Youth Engagement Group members and a Young Ambassador sharing their story at a fundraising event 🙌✨

Whether it’s through our Youth Engagement Groups, Young Ambassadors, sitting on recruitment/selection panels for roles within our services team, membership of our Board Services Committee, or a host of other opportunities, we’d like to thank all the young people who have helped to shape the support we offer to families who need it most!

This , we’re celebrating the incredible impact of our Community Champions across Northern Ireland 💛

Over the past 12 months, our network of volunteers has gone from strength to strength. By attending events and representing us in their local communities, they’ve helped extend our reach further than ever before.

Their dedication has saved our fundraising team an estimated 5,786 miles of travel and 291 hours on the road, a huge contribution that allows us to focus more resources where they’re needed most. Not only does this mean greater support for communities across NI, but it also brings significant savings in travel costs and staff time.

To every Community Champion, and every volunteer who so generously gives their time to help us be there for families when they need us most, thank you. Your passion and commitment is making a real difference every single day!

It’s Thank You Thursday! 🥳

This week, we want to say thank you to Dennison Commercials who have chosen us as their charity partner for 2026. Keep your eyes peeled for their specially branded Dennison Rentals truck which will be helping to raise vital awareness for our services

Thank you to our partner Liberty Information Technology who joined us for a day of volunteering at Daisy Lodge. Not only does the whole team across Liberty IT support us with amazing fundraising, but they got hands-on (literally!) this week, clearing the driveway to boost drainage, as well as weather-proofing fences💛

We want to say a big thank you to Sinéad and all her team at Capelli Hair salon Westport who hosted "Capelli Styles for Daisy Smiles" recently, providing styling, refreshments and an amazing raffle in aid of Cancer Fund for Children. It was a huge success and they have blown us away, raising €4,095 with the help of all who donated online and came along for the event.

Thank you to the team at Green Farm in Westmeath, who held their annual bake sale and raised over €800 selling delicious treats and to everyone at Gortjordan & Kilmaine Ladies Group who held a coffee evening earlier this year and raised a fantastic €820 🙌

Thanks to all at The Rotary Club of Lagan Valley who handed over a cheque for £3,700 raised from a breakfast event they held before Christmas and to Maud Bailie who recently celebrated a big birthday and asked for donations to be made to our services in lieu of presents 🎁

Finally, we want to say a huge thank you to Frankie who organised a yellow fun day at Victoria Primary and raised an incredible £1,677. Well done Frankie!
