For many young people like our Young Ambassador Michael, finishing cancer treatment is not the end of their story. While the physical treatment may be over, emotional challenges can continue long after hospital visits and appointments have ended.

We are incredibly grateful to Michael and Sarah for generously sharing their experiences today. Through their stories, they are helping to shine a light on the often unseen emotional impact of cancer, fostering greater understanding and reminding other young people and families that they are not alone.

Today is World Mental Health Day 🌍

Cancer can impact every part of a young person's life, including their emotional wellbeing, relationships and confidence. By sharing her experience, our Young Ambassador Sarah is helping to reduce stigma, spark important conversations and ensure that other young people facing similar challenges feel seen, heard and understood.

This World Mental Health Day, we're recognising the resilience of young people navigating life during and after cancer and highlighting the importance of supporting their mental health every step of the way.

Today, and every day, we're proud to amplify their voices, raise awareness of the emotional impact of cancer, and champion the support that helps young people thrive💛

Let’s be honest... who’s going for the snacks? 😄

As we count down to Sunday’s Bog Run, we’d like to give a special shout-out to the incredible food and product suppliers helping to keep our participants fuelled from start to finish!

Let them make art! 🎨

Recently, some of the young people we support travelled to Dublin to take part in The Helium Creative Health Youth Forum, which we were delighted to partner with. This was the first year of this event which facilitates creative workshops for young people aged 13–24 living with a long-term physical health condition, as well as siblings, young carers, close friends and family members.

The theme of the day was “Access to the Arts” and young people who attended explored existing barriers that impact on the arts being an inclusive space, and how these can be overcome 💛

It’s Thank You Thursday! 🥳

This week, we want to say a huge thank you to Rebecca Po***ck and Ida Parks for raising £100 by selling bracelets and brownies 🍫

Thanks to the 1st South Belfast Linfield Supporters Club who held a bucket collection at the Linfield V Cliftonville game and to T-Fit Gym for raising £2,120 through their Golf Day to support children like Skye and her family 💛

Thank you to the Macmillan Knit and Natter group for raising £781 by selling handmade items at their Summer Stall in aid of Cancer Fund for Children and Little Heroes and to the Knit and Natter Ballywalter group for donating handmade blankets for our service users 🧶

Thank you to Tom Connolly and all at Connolly's Pub in Hollymount who donated €800 from the proceeds of their weekly "Joker Draw.” These funds will make such a difference!

Thank you so much Noel & Joanne Jennings, all the team and clients of the Hello Goodlife Hub in Newport, Mayo who raised an incredible €2,540 during a recent coffee morning and bake sale. Thanks as well to the local musicians and bakers from far and wide who made this a really special day.

Thank you to Darrell Arbuthnot for raising £1,420 by taking part in the West Highland Way.

And last but not least, we want to say a special thank you to the family and friends of Owen Gregg who organised a charity football match on 27th September in his memory. Such a lovely event!

“I used to think, am I Sarah, or am I Sarah the cancer patient? At Daisy Lodge, it was ok to be both.”

We’re still thinking of these powerful words from Sarah, our Young Ambassador, who spoke at our recent Daisy Ball at the InterContinental Dublin 💛

Hosted by our wonderful Ambassador Kathryn Thomasthis incredible evening allowed us to bring people together to learn more about our services and their importance for children and young people like Sarah. We also shared an update on Daisy Lodge Mayo, which is due to open its doors in early 2027 🌼

We’re delighted to announce that this event has raised over €370k and counting. These funds will help us open the doors of Daisy Lodge in Cong and provide a safe, restorative space for families impacted by cancer when they need it most.

✨ Special thank you to our sponsors Yes Insurance, Elave Skincare and Paul Sheeran Jewellers who helped us bring this event to life. It was great to be joined by our Ambassador Rachael Blackmore and thanks to Valerie Roe for her support on the night.

Every muddy step taken this October will allow us to continue supporting families like Christopher and Jenna, whose son Connall went through his own cancer experience in 2021, when he was just 5 years old 💛

“Cancer Fund for Children holds a very special place in our hearts. We’ve taken part in the Bog Run in 2024 and 2025, and with this year being the 10th and final Bog Run, we’re determined to make it our biggest and best yet. We’re bringing family, friends, Connall’s classmates and their parents together for one last fun adventure in their last year of primary school. Together, we have achieved something remarkable. Rory’s Miles to Mayo - The Trilogy raised an incredible €1.7/£1.45 million, bringing the total raised across all three challenges to €4.2/£4 million.

This journey was powered by people.

To every participant who walked with us, every supporter who cheered from the sidelines, every volunteer who gave their time so generously, our incredible staff team both on the road and back at home, and everyone who donated, shared and followed the journey online, thank you. Every mile, every step and every euro raised was made possible by you. This achievement belongs to all of you.

To Rory and Jodie, thank you for believing in our vision from the very beginning. You led this challenge with passion, courage and heart, inspiring thousands of people to come together behind children and families facing cancer. What you have helped create is nothing short of extraordinary.
