We were so excited to welcome our Rory’s Miles to Mayo team to Daisy Lodge for our first team day! 🙌

Led by Rory Best, this September, this incredible group of business leaders from across the island of Ireland will tackle nine marathons in nine days to raise vital funds in aid of children and young people impacted by cancer. Together they will walk over 50,000 steps daily, putting their physical and mental endurance to the test to help ensure no child faces cancer alone 💛

It was great to bring this group together for the first time, to connect with each other and to share details of the challenge and how we will work together, to ensure we make the biggest impact. Rory also shared some words of wisdom, focusing on the lessons he has learned from his previous Rory’s Miles to Mayo challenges.

✨ What a team. What a day. What a challenge.

📍 Community Update in Cong, Co. Mayo

Last week, we were delighted to host an Information Evening at The Crossroads Community Centre, Cong, sharing updates on the construction of Daisy Lodge, Co. Mayo.

The event gave local residents and stakeholders an insight into the progress of this purpose-built facility, which will provide vital support to children, young people and families impacted by cancer across the island of Ireland. It also offered a valuable opportunity for attendees to ask questions and share their thoughts on the project.

Attendees heard directly from build contractors Connolly & Fee Ltd, and Raph, Residential Services Manager at our existing Daisy Lodge in Co. Down, who spoke about the real difference short breaks make to families.

Preparation of the 30,000 square foot site began in 2024 and full construction commenced in summer 2025. Due to open in early 2027, Daisy Lodge, Co. Mayo will be a special place where children and their families can make memories, and have precious time to rest, reconnect and rebuild💛

It’s Thank You Thursday! 🥳

This week, we want to say a very special thank you to Little Acorns and Tots team who organised a coffee morning in memory of Timothy Harte. Such a lovely event 💛

Thank you to the very talented Rosie Colwell who has raised £2,000 selling beautiful hand-made wooden houses and to Tommy and everyone at KB Fitness who held a fundraising spin and raised £2,250 in aid of our services.

Thank you to KPMG who held a raffle at their recent Alumni Dinner and raised €24,750. This will make such a difference in the lives of children and young people impacted by cancer 🥰

A huge thank you to the whole team at Kennedy FitzGerald Architects LLP for their partnership over the past two years. Through various activities such as bake sales, marathons and Bog Runs, they raised an incredible £7,000!

We also want to say a big thank you to our longstanding partner, JP Corry. The team braved a charity football match against Orangefield OBFC Crocks, raising £1,000! Thank you for helping ensure that no child faces cancer alone 💛

Thanks to Creacvery Primary School, who took part in ReadOn and raised an amazing £200.

And finally, thank you to the team at Prison Island Belfast who generously donated multiple vouchers for young people who are in hospital. Knowing businesses across the community are supporting families facing a cancer diagnosis, as well as generously helping to brighten their stay in hospital with something to look forward to, makes the world of difference.

It’s National Volunteering Week in Ireland 💛

Today, we’re celebrating our incredible volunteer Jack, who has supported our charity for the past 5 years. During the build of our second Daisy Lodge in Co. Mayo, Jack has been capturing spectacular drone footage, helping us document every step of this special project.

We are so grateful for Jack, and for all of our amazing volunteers across the island who so generously give their time to help us continue to ensure no child faces cancer alone👏

Interested in becoming a volunteer? Get in touch today on [email protected], we would love to hear from you!
