More often than not, people feel uncomfortable or uncertain about reporting abuse they've received as a Hate Crime, they feel afraid of wasting the time of the police, and often minimise what they have experienced.

Understanding the definitions of Hate Crimes & Incidents can be the first step to getting justice & support.

If you have been the victim of a crime you perceive to have been motivated by hate or prejudice, please reach out to us by emailing [email protected], or contact the PSNI via 101 or their online reporting portal.

Today marks the beginning of National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2026!

This week is to designed to encourage organisations, authorities, and the local community to come together to spread to tackle hate crime and spread awareness on support services.

No Barriers Here: Upcoming Creative End-of-Life Planning Workshops 🎨

What matters most to you? Who would you want around you? Where would you want to be cared for? And how would you like to be remembered? Join us for a free, creative three-week series exploring Advance Care Planning, your wishes for the end of life and your legacy 💚

These workshops are for LGBTQIA+ people aged 18+ at any stage of life. You don’t need to be living with cancer or nearing the end of life - Advance Care Planning is for everyone, and it’s never too early to start thinking about what you’d want.

Across three sessions, we’ll use art, textiles and creative activities to explore what matters to you, your choices and how you’d like to be remembered. No creative experience needed!

🗓️ Tuesdays: 17th November, 24th November & 1st December
⏰ 6:30-8pm
📍 The Rainbow Project, Belfast LGBT Centre

Delivered by The Rainbow Project alongside Northern Ireland Hospice . Please note: participants must be able to attend all three sessions.

Community Organisation of the Year! 🏆

We’re absolutely delighted to have been named Community Organisation of the Year at The Galas LGBTQ+ Awards.

This award belongs to every person who has helped make The Rainbow Project what it is. Our staff, volunteers, supporters, partners and, most importantly, the LGBTQIA+ people and families we work alongside every day.

Our work is about creating a better Northern Ireland for LGBTQIA+ people and their families. It’s about community, connection, visibility and making sure people know they are not alone.

Happy International Le***an Day!

From all of the team at The Rainbow Project (particularly the Rainbow le****ns!), we send our love and solidarity to le***an communities across Northern Ireland.

We know there is still so much work to do to ensure that le****ns are protected and fully included within our society. From work that we're doing on conversion practices and hate crime law reform, to our colleagues in HereNI's work on family recognition and access to fertility, significant progress is needed to ensure all le****ns can live free, open, and fulfilling lives.

As part of a renewed initiative behind our Hate Crime & Advocacy Service, we are hosting 3 separate community consultations to hear thoughts, opinions, and experiences with Hate Crime, the Justice system, and much more.

The first of these consultations will be held in our Derry centre, on October the 12th, 2026 @ 4pm - 6pm.

If you're interested, join us for an afternoon of discussion, activities, and planning for the future, as the community shapes it's own Hate Crime Advocacy Service.
