Today marks a major moment for children, young people and families.🎉 We’re committing £30 million, our largest single investment in Northern Ireland to date, for Together for Families, a partnership project with the Department of Health NI and the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.

Together for Families will transform how children, young people and families are supported by making it easier for them to get coordinated early intervention support in their communities, before issues reach crisis point.

We welcome the Minister for Finance’s Department of Finance announcement today of £29.2 million from public sector transformation funding for the almost £60 million Together for Families project, and the opportunity to work in partnership to help change current systems and shift them towards community-led prevention.

General information is in our press release on our website at https://ow.ly/tyRS50Z4bs6

We look forward to sharing more information on Together for Families over the coming months.

Paul Sweeney, Chair of our Northern Ireland Committee, was honoured to attend the reopening of Biffers at The Brain Injury Foundation in Camlough earlier this week. Biffers provides a welcoming social space where brain injury survivors, their carers, families and the wider community can come together for support.

During the visit, Paul learned more about the positive impact funding is having on the organisation's work.

Thanks to National Lottery players, The Brain Injury Foundation has used grant funding to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of its building. These upgrades will not only reduce carbon emissions - delivering clear environmental benefits - but also generate significant annual savings on energy costs.

Crucially, these savings can be reinvested into vital services, supporting brain injury survivors and their carers, and showing how sustainability measures can make a real difference to the support organisations can provide.

A fantastic example of community-led environmental action. 👏

We were delighted to join Finance Minister John O’Dowd at the 174 Trust yesterday. It was great to hear about the impact funding is having for them and how this support has been paramount in allowing them to explore other income streams, meaning they will be more sustainable and resilient for future.

Dormant Assets NI funding is not about delivery or expansion of services. It focuses on strengthening organisations in areas like skills and capacity building, resilience, digital skills, impact measurement, financial management, governance & leadership and volunteer management.

Congratulations! 🎉£14 million of Strengthening Communities grants awarded to 35 amazing projects across Northern Ireland.

One organisation receiving funding is AGE north down & ards. Their project supports unpaid carers aged 65+ in their local area:

“Older unpaid carers are a vital but often overlooked part of our local communities, with many experiencing isolation, declining health and financial pressures. This funding will help us reach local unpaid carers and ensure they feel supported, valued and connected. By offering consistent, trusted support, we can help carers look after their own wellbeing while supporting their loved ones.”

Strengthening Communities funds community projects in Northern Ireland where the need is greatest, that help people live healthier, happier lives. Find out more and apply at: https://ow.ly/jIOR50YSmQC
