CAUSE Carers

CAUSE Carers CAUSE provides practical and emotional support to empower families, partners and friends caring for a loved one who has experienced serious mental illness.

Established in 1995, CAUSE is a peer-led organisation, run by carers for carers. Our team of trained Carer Advocates, who provide our frontline services, have direct personal experience of caring for a loved one with a serious mental illness. We have all had our own carer’s journey. More than anyone, we understand the types of practical and emotional issues families, partners and friends can face.

What CAUSE offers:
• One-to-one support and advocacy
• Training for carers and professionals
• A network of carer support groups
• A confidential Helpline for carers
• Social opportunities to meet other carers
• Ways to engage with carers in policy and
service development

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along to our pub quiz at Horatio Todd's in East Belfast last week! 💚

We had such a brilliant night and even better, raised over £600 for CAUSE 🎉 Every penny will go towards supporting the work we do with mental health carers and their families.

A few pics below of everyone hard at work… and on most occasions, guessing the right answer! 😂🧠

A special thank you to our CAUSE Carers staff and volunteers who helped out on the night, and of course to the team at Horatio Todd’s for making us so welcome and supporting a local charity.

It was great craic, a great turnout and a lovely example of what a bit of local support can do. 💚

Thank you everyone — we might just have to do it all again!

That's a wrap on Step Up for Carers 2026! 👣

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took part, donated, shared our campaign, and cheered our participants on throughout June.

Together, you've helped raise over £2,300 to support carers of people living with mental illness across Northern Ireland. Every step taken and every pound raised will help us continue providing vital support, education, advocacy, and wellbeing services to those who need them most.

We couldn't have done it without our incredible community of supporters. Thank you for stepping up for carers and helping shine a light on the invaluable role they play every single day.

Here's to making an even bigger impact next year! 💚

To every carer reading this today... this is for you 💚

Caring can be overwhelming, exhausting, and, at times, incredibly lonely. But even on the days when it feels like no one notices, please know this:

You are seen.
You are appreciated.
The care, love, and strength you show every day make an immeasurable difference.

If no one has told you lately, thank you for all you do.

Remember, CAUSE is here for you💚

Myths about caring can stop people from getting the support they deserve.

Many carers put their own needs last, believing they should cope alone or that their wellbeing isn't as important. The truth is, caring for someone else doesn't mean you have to do everything on your own.

Swipe through as we bust some common myths about caring and remind carers that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you're caring for someone living with mental illness, support is available.

Hearing feedback like this reminds us why our work matters 💚

Creating opportunities for carers to step away from the demands of everyday life, connect with others who understand, and take time to focus on their own wellbeing can have a lasting impact.

Thank you to every carer who joins us on one of our short breaks. We're so pleased we can provide a space to rest, recharge, and feel supported 💚
