CAUSE Carers

CAUSE Carers CAUSE provides practical and emotional support to empower families, partners and friends caring for a loved one who has experienced serious mental illness.

Established in 1995, CAUSE is a peer-led organisation, run by carers for carers. Our team of trained Carer Advocates, who provide our frontline services, have direct personal experience of caring for a loved one with a serious mental illness. We have all had our own carer’s journey. More than anyone, we understand the types of practical and emotional issues families, partners and friends can face.

What CAUSE offers:
• One-to-one support and advocacy
• Training for carers and professionals
• A network of carer support groups
• A confidential Helpline for carers
• Social opportunities to meet other carers
• Ways to engage with carers in policy and
service development

At the start of this month, surrounded by stunning coastal scenery, we held our personality disorder training for carers at the gorgeous .community - the perfect place for carers to come together, learn, reflect, and recharge.

What a supportive and inspiring weekend, full of meaningful conversations, connection, and shared peer support learning...the view wasn't too bad either! 💚

Special thanks to for funding this unique, bespoke support 💫

Our Step Up for Carers participants are smashing it 👏

"I signed up for 'Step Up For Carers' in recognition of the invaluable work that carers do, often behind the scenes and often with not enough support. I also wanted to highlight the great work CAUSE do in Northern Ireland to provide practical and emotional support to families when they are caring for a loved one who has experienced SMI."

Thank you so much for your support Sarah 💚💚

Help us keep the momentum going by donating or sharing some words of encouragement!

A carer friendly community starts with understanding 💚

Sometimes the smallest actions - listening, supporting, checking in, or simply recognising someone’s role as a carer - can make a huge difference.

This Carers Week, we’re encouraging everyone to think about how we can build communities where unpaid carers feel seen, valued, and supported.

It’s Carers Week 💚

This week shines a light on the millions of unpaid carers across the UK, including those caring for loved ones with mental illness.

This year’s theme, “Building Carer Friendly Communities”, focuses on creating communities where carers feel recognised, valued, and supported.

At CAUSE, we know caring can often feel isolating, but carers should never have to face things alone 💚
