Oh, what a treat the students at North East Scotland College are having this afternoon getting to listen, learn and work for a couple of hours with Hannah Rarity and Heather Cartwright!

Hannah and Heather are up in Aberdeen for the next couple of days and there’s still time to sign up for a FREE workshop with them tomorrow (Sat 3rd October) from 2pm - 3:30pm at the Way WORD Festival.

What a lovely day we had this week heading into NESCol to chat to the music students about all things SC&T! 🎶

We had a great time talking about community music, the work we do across SC&T, and the many different ways musicians can get involved in their local communities — as well as having a tune to top it all off!

It was brilliant to meet the new students, hear their thoughts and hopefully inspire a few of them to get involved in community music along the way!

Partnerships are such an important part of what we do at SC&T, and it’s always brilliant to have opportunities like this to connect, share ideas and hopefully create more opportunities for young musicians to get involved.

We’re holding a FREE “Come and Try” event this Saturday
📍 MacRobert Building on King Street
📅 12 September
🕑 1.00 to 3.30pm
Come along and try one of our traditional instruments. Our tutors will be on hand to guide you. We offer evening classes in most traditional instruments and in Scots Song and we can hire you an instrument to get you started!
This event is free and open to all.

🎶 SC&T Youth Performance Group is back! 🎶

We’re delighted to welcome everyone back along with some new faces for another term of music making, learning, performing and lots of fun!

The Autumn Term of classes has officially started here at SC&T Youth, and we’re so excited for another term of learning, collaborating, making music and, most importantly, having fun!

A very special THANK YOU to each and every one of you who has donated instruments to us. It genuinely makes such a huge difference to the young people we work with.

This week alone, we have over 30 guitars and fiddles heading home with young people, giving them an instrument of their own to learn on, practise with at home and continue building their confidence and skills between classes. 🎻🎸

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helps us make music accessible to young people, we couldn’t do it without you.

Here’s to another brilliant term! 🎶

✨ SC&T Youth Beginner Weekly Classes in Fiddle and Guitar - Autumn Term starting soon! ✨

Looking to try something new or get started in Scottish traditional music? Our SC&T Youth beginner classes are the perfect place to start for all young people aged 7-26!

📍 MacRobert Building, University of Aberdeen
📅 Starting 31st August (10-week term)
✨ Suitable for total beginners aged 7+
💥 Free to attend (with optional donation if you can)

Our classes are fun, friendly and supportive - designed to build confidence, learn new skills and enjoy making music together. No experience needed at all, just come along and give it a go! With four terms of classes at beginner level to progress through (Beginner 0, 1, 2 and 3), young players can enjoy up to 40 weeks of tuition in fiddle or guitar, building skills week by week in a supportive and fun group setting.
