Carers Week is an annual campaign that raises awareness of caring, recognises the vital contribution unpaid carers make, and highlights the challenges they face. It also helps more people recognise themselves as carers and access support.

The 2026 theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, focuses on creating communities that better understand, support, and empower carers to make a lasting difference in their lives.

Chloe Grant, an art student at Gray's School of Art at Robert Gordon University, created this beautiful artwork for our bookshop window titled 'Happiness Comes In Waves'.

The piece was inspired by Scottish wildlife and the Aberdeen beach skyline.

We appreciate Chloe volunteering her time to create this wonderful artwork for the Mercat Bookshop. You can see more of her work on her Instagram page at _cmg_creativity_.

From our inspiring bookshop volunteers to our dedicate corporate volunteers, and our wonderful VSA staff and service users, volunteering supports VSA in countless ways.

📚The bookshop is open weekdays and Saturdays from 10am - 3pm.
