A cancer diagnosis brings with it so many emotions. Fear. Anger. Grief. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, hope.

Hope for the right treatment. Hope for more time. Hope for the moment when you can finally exhale.

On 10 June, our Geneva Centre filled with people, each carrying their own story. Some came as survivors. Some came still in the middle of treatment. Some came for a loved one, or in memory of one. Some came simply because they are part of this community, and that is enough.

At the heart of the gathering was Cancer Support Switzerland's Bell of Hope, inspired by Jaym, who had dreamed of ringing one ever since completing treatment but could not find one anywhere in the region. Thanks to the generosity of a member of our community, that dream became a reality.

One by one, people stepped forward. Some finally marking a milestone they never had the chance to celebrate. Some ringing for someone they love, or someone they carry with them every day.

No right reason. No expectation. No script. Just the bell and whatever it meant to them.

There were tears. There was laughter. There was warmth. There was so much joy.

And to Jaym, and to every person who rang that bell, thank you for sharing that moment with us. We are so proud of each and every one of you. 🔔

Our Geneva Drop-In Centre offers a welcoming space where you can connect with others who understand. No appointment needed. Just come along whenever it feels right.

Our peer supporters will be there throughout the evening to offer a listening ear, provide information, and help you find the support and resources that are right for you.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Annual Men's Barbecue on 19 May. 🔥

So many words in one evening. It matters that the men in our community have a safe space to connect, to laugh, to feel heard. And that was exactly what this evening was.

We're so glad you were there. Till next year. 👋

Surviving cancer looks different for every single person. Today we honour every one of them, including many people from our community.

It is the person who walked out of their last treatment and stood in the car park not quite knowing what to feel. The one who is still mid-way through. The one who finished years ago but still carries it quietly inside. The one who had to learn, slowly, who they were on the other side of it.

There is no right way to survive. There is no right way to feel today. Some of you will celebrate. Some will reflect. Some will feel a complicated mix of gratitude and grief that is hard to put into words. All of it is valid. All of it belongs here.

Because survivorship is not a finish line. It is something that lives with you, changes shape over time, and asks different things of you in different seasons.

There is no expectation other than to meet yourself where you are. Whatever this day brings up for you, your experience matters.

On National Cancer Survivors Day, we honour every single part of your story.

If you or someone you love needs support during or after a cancer journey, Cancer Support Switzerland is here for you. Every step of the way.

See the first comment for more info on how we can help on this journey.

Join us for a June Walk'nTalk in Geneva 🌿

There is something special about Geneva in June. The trees are lush and green, the flowers are in bloom, and the whole city seems to come alive.

This month, we would love you to join us for our Geneva Walk'nTalk as we head to Bout du Monde, Vessy, a beautiful pocket of nature on the edge of the city. It is the perfect setting for some fresh air, gentle movement and good conversation.

Our walk will last around 60 minutes and is designed to be relaxed and enjoyable. There is no rush, no pressure and no need to keep pace with anyone else. Just a chance to get outdoors, connect with others and enjoy the simple pleasure of walking together.

The Geneva Walk'nTalk is open to everyone in the Cancer Support Switzerland community, including members, volunteers, staff, family and friends.

📅 Thursday 11 June 2026
🕙 Meet at 10:00
🚗 Parking available in front of the Sport Centre complex
🚌 Bus lines 7 and 11, stop Bout du Monde

Before you set off, please remember comfortable walking shoes, a waterproof layer, a hat, sunscreen, an umbrella and a bottle of water. Geneva weather likes to keep us guessing! ☀️🌦️

If you would like to bring your four-legged friend, dogs are very welcome too, provided they are kept on a lead. 🐕

We look forward to spending a lovely morning walking and chatting with you.

When words run out, the hands remember.

There is a particular kind of silence that comes with a cancer diagnosis. The silence of not knowing how to say what you feel. Not to your doctor. Not to your family. Not even to yourself.

Maybe that is where you are right now.

Once a month, a small group of people touched by cancer gathers around a table. Some are patients. Some are caregivers. Some have not picked up a paintbrush since school. They paint, draw, work with clay and pastels, and sit quietly alongside one another.

And something shifts.

When you are focused on colour and shape and texture, the fear softens for a little while. Being in a room with people who truly understand, without having to explain yourself, is its own kind of relief.
