🐋 Canada's endangered species need stronger protections, not loopholes.

Critics warn a federal proposal could give government the power to sacrifice species in the name of development.

🌊 The ocean covers 70% of our planet, helps regulate our climate, and supports life on Earth.
That's why it's concerning to see the United States scaling back parts of its ocean monitoring network while the European Union is investing €92 million in new ocean observation systems, including satellites, underwater drones, and real-time ocean data tools. These systems help scientists track climate change, marine ecosystems, extreme weather, and ocean health.
Good decisions depend on good data. The better we understand our ocean, the better we can protect it. https://tinyurl.com/yf26vdnm

Kelp forests are some of the most important—and most threatened—ecosystems in our coastal waters. They provide habitat for salmon, rockfish, herring, crabs, and countless other marine species while helping stabilize shorelines and store carbon.
Join for an inspiring conversation about kelp forest restoration and learn how local efforts are helping bring these underwater forests back to life.

🚨 This World Oceans Day, wild salmon need more than celebration—they need action.
For decades, we've fought to remove open-net salmon farms from the migration routes wild salmon depend on. Progress has been real, but the fight is not over.
The federal government has promised to end open-net pen salmon farming by 2029, yet that commitment still isn't law. Industry lobbying is intensifying, and there is a real risk that "enhanced technologies" could be used to keep farms operating.
We cannot afford to lose momentum now.

🌊 World Oceans Day: Help Us Finish the Job
We've come a long way. Salmon farms are now almost entirely gone from Sechelt to Port McNeill, and wild salmon are getting a fighting chance.
But the job isn't finished.
Open-net salmon farms still operate along critical migration routes, and the promised 2029 ban has not yet been written into law.
This World Oceans Day, help us keep the pressure on decision-makers and protect wild salmon for future generations.
💙 Donate today and help us finish the job.

Canada has strong laws against importing goods associated with forced or child labour, but the US argues we don't enforce them—noting that Canadian Border Services has investigated only 50 imports and turned back 2.
Meanwhile, we know from the Outlaw Ocean expose that seafood imported into Canada may have been caught or processed by forced labour. https://tinyurl.com/59ecxbmx
