Stay safe in the heat. A simple phone call, text message, or visit can make a difference.
As temperatures rise across BC, take time to check in on Elders, family members, neighbours, and community members who may need extra support during hot weather.
Heat can affect anyone, but Elders, young children, pregnant people, people with health conditions, and those who live alone may be at greater risk.
During hot weather:
💧 Drink water regularly
🏠 Keep indoor spaces as cool as possible
🌡️ Monitor indoor temperatures
📱 Check in on family, friends, neighbours, and community members
For heat-vulnerable people, the risk of heat-related illness may increase when indoor temperatures rise above 26°C (79°F) and may be very high above 31°C (88°F).
Knowing the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke can help save lives. If someone is showing signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.
Community care saves lives.
