After celebrating the Indigenous Mapping Workshop’s 10th anniversary last year in Regina, you may be wondering what’s next for IMW. While there won’t be an Indigenous Mapping Workshop on Turtle Island this year, we were proud to support and attend IMW Australia’s gathering in Meanjin (Brisbane). The event brought together communities from across Australia and around the world.
IMW Australia welcomed Indigenous knowledge holders, land managers and stewards, geospatial experts, and mappers of all skill levels—bringing together a record 160 participants.
For those on Turtle Island eager for the next gathering, we’re excited to announce that is on the horizon!
