This Throwback Thursday, we are reliving our Country & Western-themed event held earlier this month. Staff were treated to a hearty cowboy/cowgirl lunch. Residents, clients and staff alike enjoyed the toe-tapping tunes from local musicians Ben and Élise LeBlanc Music .

What was the experience like for our first-time Luther Court entertainers? Ben answered that, “we love playing at Luther Court, as the care for the residents is so apparent. Everyone seems to really enjoy the music, and we feel very well taken care of.”

Donations directly fund our music and entertainment programming. To all our donors and supporters: your generosity helps make Luther Court a fun place to work, live and visit. Thank you for keeping our halls alive with the sound of music😁🎶

The democratic process is alive and well at Luther Court. 🗳️ On our campus of care, every perspective matters!

Thank you to our Provincial Electoral Candidates for Victoria-Swan Lake - Tim Taylor; Carolyn Howe and Nina Krieger - for visiting us.

You shared your platforms, answered our questions, and helped our residents make informed decisions before casting their ballots yesterday, when voting came to our site.

Residents in assisted living asked important questions, like ‘how will you ensure that I can stay in my home at Luther Court if I need more care?’

As a non-profit that offers integrated healthcare services as people age, we continue to advocate for a designated pathway that would allow residents to transition between levels of care while remaining with their chosen Luther Court family.

We believe that as our needs change, our sense of connection and home shouldn’t have to.

Every vote matters at every age.

On World Osteoporosis Day, be more like Bill and move for your bones!

Luther Court’s Timnick Family Garden is a great place to walk, roll or lift some weights to keep your bones and muscles moving.

At any age, the best types of exercises for bone health are weight-bearing and muscle strengthening, per international_osteoporosis.

Today on the International Day of the Eradication of Poverty, the theme is ‘safe homes for all’.

At Luther Court, we have always recognized the role that affordable housing plays in living a life of dignity. From day one.

Did you know…Luther Court was founded 47 years ago to meet the growing needs for low income seniors housing and support services like meals, laundry and housekeeping. This was considered a progressive new concept for Southern Vancouver Islanders then.

Sadly, those same needs persist close to 50 years later. More and more older - and younger - people are at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. A recent report by the Office of the Seniors Advocate uncovered that around a quarter of BC’s seniors live on an annual income of less than $24,000.

That’s why we broke ground last summer to start building 95 new affordable rental apartments for older and younger adults. Expected to open in early 2028, the BC Housing partnership will enable tenants to live independently. And philanthropy will ensure that purpose-built community programming space will bring people together.

It’s ‘Feel the Good' Friday: a celebration of all the good that you make possible.

Meet octogenarian Margaret, pictured here, who receives assistance from the Luther Court team for her care needs and day-to-day living. She sees this chapter of her life as her time to shine.

“After I retired, it was all about the grandkids and spending time with them, which was great.” But when Margaret moved into Luther Court, it became an opportunity to focus on herself and the hobbies that bring her joy. As Margaret says, “if I want to stay in and knit with my friends, I can. Or, if I want to go out and explore with friends, I do.”

As a supporter, you help sustain a feeling of home - where everyone can feel they belong and find comfort in knowing they matter. Thank you for all of the ways that you help people shine at Luther Court. 🤩

Her heart is in the country. ❤️ Her stories are close to ours.

Meet Rona, a Luther Court resident whose fondest memories take us back to country living and home canning.

In light of the International Day of Rural Women, we are celebrating the strength, resourcefulness and contributions of women like Rona who grew up and raised families in rural communities. We are grateful for their hard work and traditions that helped nourish families and build communities.

Rona chose to capture some highlights from her life last year through our Legacy Stories Project fuelled by volunteers and Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Story-sharing is one of the many reasons people of all ages love volunteering at Luther Court. When generations connect, experiences are shared and connection grows. Because every story matters.
