Sending our heartfelt congratulations to Joseph Valencia, Health Care Assistant who won FIRST PLACE and the People’s Choice Award in Healthcare for his innovative and easy-to-use communication tool. He hopes his Visual Path Mobility Kit, piloted right where he works in long-term care at Luther Court, will help prevent fall-related injuries for more residents, co-workers and peers in healthcare. Joseph, we applaud your creativity in developing a brilliant new safety system that is making a big difference at Luther Court!

Today, we honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people on Red Dress Day.

Red dresses stand as powerful symbols of lives taken too soon and voices that must never be forgotten.

As a healthcare organization, we recognize our responsibility to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed care, and to listen, learn, and act in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Thank you to our volunteers who helped make these special red dress pins available for our residents and staff to wear today.

Every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and seen—especially in spaces of care.

It’s that time of year again…for some, it’s the time to celebrate Doodle Dog Day! And for us, it’s the perfect time to recognize our 4-legged volunteers who bring so much joy when they bring their humans to visit residents.

Entering the weekend with gratitude and music in our hearts! 💕 A huge thank you to Saanich Baptist Church for generously donating a grand piano to our campus of care. It is being well used and loved by staff, volunteers and residents alike. The gorgeous piano brought joy to sisters Margaret and Nancy as they played and enjoyed a favourite spring song together.

How are you celebrating International Day of Happiness today? We are reminiscing about all the fun trips we've been able to take with support from our donors and partners like Freedom Adventure Bus . Group outings bring so much happiness and joy to older adults who may not always have the chance to explore all the magical spots that Greater Victoria has to offer on their own.

John has called Luther Court his home for almost 5 years and has visited the Victoria Butterfly Gardens few times with fellow residents. He gave us permission to share this photo of him as it reminds him of the time a butterfly landed on him at home in Africa, as a child. Hope a happy memory finds you today and makes you smile!
