In 2007, he was one of two instructors to receive his Black Sash in Hung Fut Kung Fu and instrumental in shaping the next 4 black sashes. There has been less than 20 Black Sashes awarded in their 50+ year history. Despite his recent visual impairment, in 2022 he founded the Ging Wu West where he will be teaching exclusively. Instruction will be in both Contemporary and Traditional forms of Chinese Lion Dancing, Martial arts and Self Defense. We are very fortunate to have Sifu Godwin share with us his vast experience and knowledge. What makes us unique? We are a not for profit organization which believes in community involvement and keeping our monthly fees low. I am very proud of my team, we have worked hard to be a supportive and welcoming group creating friendships within our community, other students and for our audience. We blend both traditional, cultural and a bit of contemporary movements into our lion dance performances. Not to mention that traditionally, lion dancing is a male dominated sport and we are an all female team. Some of our students started their lion dance journey as young as 11 years old, but the majority of our team's age range is from 14 - 23 years old from different cultures.
