Sending a huge thank you to for their very generous $1,000 donation to The Kitchen’s Spring into Action food drive. 💛 Your support will help provide healthy food for seniors, students, and families in our community.

We are short on food supplies and need your help to meet our goal by May 7 💛

As we Spring Into Action, we want to highlight one simple but powerful way you can make a real difference: donate canned protein—like plain canned beans.

Canned beans are a staple for food programs like ours because they’re:

✨ Nutrient-dense – packed with protein, fibre, iron, and essential nutrients
✨ Shelf-stable – keeps for a long time without refrigeration
✨ Versatile – can be made into quick, healthy meals for individuals and families
✨ Accessible – easy to prepare, even with limited kitchen resources

For many of our neighbours, access to protein-rich foods like beans can make the difference between a meal that simply fills you up and one that truly nourishes you.

Looking for inspiration? Check out this delicious, budget-friendly, vegan meal the whole family can enjoy.

Every can, every dollar, and every act of kindness brings us closer to our goal of 3,000 lbs of food.

Let’s stock those shelves with foods that fuel and support our community 💪

Donations are gratefully accepted at The Kitchen:
101-3787 Cedar Hill Rd (at the pink doors)
Tuesdays: 4 PM – 7 PM
Wednesdays & Thursdays: 10 AM – 1 PM

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating the people who make so much possible 💛

Back in February, we gathered for our annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch to share a homemade meal, enjoy great company, and celebrate our amazing volunteers. The room was filled with beautiful music from a talented student quartet from MichaelsUniversitySchool, with extra thanks to and for helping make the day so special.

We were also proud to begin a new tradition: recognizing long-serving volunteers with certificates of appreciation for 5, 10, and many more years of care, commitment, and community-building.

Thank you to every volunteer who helps make The Kitchen such a welcoming community. Your impact is lasting, and deeply appreciated.

This Volunteer Week, we celebrate the heart of the Shelourne Community Kitchen - our incredible volunteers. 💛

Our Kitchen simply would not exist without the dedication of our 330 volunteers, who have generously contributed more than 15,000 hours of service. From cooking nourishing meals to gardening, washing dishes, sorting the pantry, and serving on our committees and boards, your care and hard work touch every part of what we do.

Every meal shared, every kindness offered, and every connection made is because of you. Each and every one of you is valued and deeply appreciated. Thank you for making our community stronger.

Let’s keep the momentum going.💛

As we “Spring Into Action,” we want to highlight one simple but powerful way you can make a real difference: donating canned protein—especially meats like tuna. 🐟

Canned tuna is a staple for food programs like ours because it’s:
✨ Nutrient-dense – packed with protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and essential vitamins
✨ Shelf-stable – lasts a long time without refrigeration
✨ Versatile – can be turned into quick, healthy meals for individuals and families
✨ Accessible – easy to prepare, even with limited kitchen resources

For many of our neighbours, having access to protein-rich foods like tuna can make the difference between a meal that simply fills you up and one that truly nourishes you.

Looking for inspiration? Check out this delicious, budget-friendly tuna meal the whole family can enjoy.

Every can, every dollar, and every act of kindness helps us move closer to our goal of 3,000 lbs of food.
