Hi PJ Library Families of Victoria, Vancouver Island, and the Gulf Islands,
I’m thrilled to introduce our new PJ Library Parent Connector, Venessa!
Venessa is stepping into this role to help strengthen connections between parents and PJ families in our community and to help create more opportunities for PJ kids and their families to connect.
A message from Venessa:
“I’m the mother of one colourful child, and we’ve been part of PJ Library since around 2018. PJ Library events have been our main connection to the Jewish community, and it’s been wonderful to see the growth in both the number of families attending and the variety of programs being offered.
I love meeting newcomers and building relationships with the people we connect with. I’m unapologetically monolingual—but I promise I have skills in other areas!
I look forward to connecting with you more as a Parent Connector. 😁”

The Victoria Jewish community and PJ library families came together for an exciting and memorable afternoon at the Grizzly hockey game, showing their spirit and support for our hometown team. Families, friends, and community members of all ages filled the arena with energy, proudly cheering on the team as they battled it out on the ice.All while wearing PJ Library party hats for fun.
After the thrilling match, the experience became even more special. Everyone was invited onto the ice for a post-game skate alongside the Grizzlies players. Children and adults alike had the chance to skate at the rink, take photos, and meet the players up close.
The event was more than just a hockey game—it was a celebration of community, connection, and created lasting memories both in the stands and on the ice.

Sunday afternoon, we had an amazing opportunity to host a Tu B'Shvat planting program in the heart of Victoria at Emanuel Congregation, together with Katia from PJ Library. We welcomed 60 registered participants, plus a few friends who joined at the last minute. Families enjoyed an interactive and fun Tu B’Shvat seder with blessings, PJ Library books, dried fruits and juice. Children decorated terra-cotta planters with paint and stickers and planted flowers to take home. We wrapped up the celebration with a pizza feast for the whole family.
This was agreat success both for participants and the colloboration between Emanuel and Community Connectors and PJ Library
