Commissionaires VIY, one of 15 independent divisions of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, was established in 1937 and has grown along with the communities of Vancouver Island. With the addition of the detachment in Whitehorse, in 1999, the name was changed to Victoria, the Islands, and Yukon Division to more closely describe our geographical boundaries. Although most core functions are admini

stered through the central office in Victoria, a number of regional managers are responsible for operations in specific geographical areas to better connect with local clients.

Thank you, Don, for 32 years of service.🎖️

We proudly recognize Commissionaire Don Frazer on the award of his gold service bar, marking 32 years of dedicated service to Commissionaires and our clients.

Don’s commitment to country began with the Canadian Army, where he served with the 1st Battalion, Queen’s Own Rifles from 1965 to 1968. In June 1994, he continued that legacy of service when he joined the CVIY Division, supporting operations at Department of National Defence followed by a longer stint at the Royal BC Museum.

Since April 2014, Don has been a steady and welcoming presence at our Home Office where he serves in the main reception area. His professionalism, reliability, and quiet dedication reflect the very best of what it means to be a Commissionaire.

Congratulations, Don, and thank you for more than three decades of service to our organization and our community.

In May, our team was proud to support the Yukon Arts Centre’s “Yukon Rumble” CWF Canada wrestling event at Takhini Arena.

Eight Commissionaires guards were on site, helping ensure a safe, well‑managed, and welcoming environment for fans, performers, and organizers alike.

Thank you to our Commissionaires for representing professionalism, and to our partners for continuing to bring vibrant events to the Yukon.

Our team delivered a tailored security awareness and de‑escalation training session for staff at Cumberland Campground, operated by the Lake Park Society.

The session focused on practical, real‑world situations staff may encounter in a busy campground setting.

Supporting local organizations with practical training is one of the ways Commissionaires helps strengthen safety and confidence in the communities we serve.

We’re proud to work alongside community partners who invest in proactive training and people‑first safety practices. Thank you to the Cumberland Campground team for the collaboration and engagement.

Sessions like this are part of a broader range of training we offer to support teams in building confidence and handling real‑world situations. Contact us to learn more.

On June 04, our team is supporting the Broadmead Care's Charity Golf Tournament at Royal Colwood Golf Club, an event that brings together community partners in support of veterans and seniors living at Veterans Memorial Lodge.

⛳ This year’s tournament is raising funds to renovate essential bathing rooms, spaces that play a critical role in providing safe, comfortable, and dignified care. Projects like this are only possible through the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community supporters.
