I stole this from somebodies reel. Ten etiquette rules that all new golfers need to know:

1️⃣ Be ready to hit when it’s your turn. Figure out your yardage, club and shot while everyone else is playing.
2️⃣ Help watch everyone’s ball. Four sets of eyes are better than one when a shot heads toward trouble.
3️⃣ Give people space when they’re putting. Avoid standing directly behind them or anywhere that could be distracting.
4️⃣ Take care of the course. Replace or fill your divots and fix your pitch marks.
5️⃣ Don’t hang around on the green. Once everyone holes out, head to the next tee and write down scores there.
6️⃣ Know where to stand when someone’s hitting. Stay out of their eyeline and avoid any sudden movement.
7️⃣ If you finish putting first, help with the flag. Grab it and be ready to put it back when everyone is done.
8️⃣ Leave your bag toward the next tee. Don’t finish the hole and realize your bag is 50 yards in the wrong direction.
9️⃣ Celebrate, but remember there are other groups around you.
You can enjoy a great shot without the entire course hearing about it.
🔟 Leave the course better than you found it. A good rule for golf in general.

Zone 5 Men are sad to learn of the passing of Lynn Benedictson. Lynn was a past member of the Board of British Columbia Golf, representing the North Island of Vancouver Island. She continued in that role when we were converted to the Zone Council. Lynn was a long time rules official/referee and mentored many of the north island's current referees. Lynn was passionate about the game of golf, but not nearly as passionate about her family. Lynn's genuiness as a person and humour will be sadly missed. Zone 5 Men express their deepest sympathies to her family in their loss. Rest in peace
There will be a Celebration of Lynn's Life at the Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community on Friday, 25 September from 1pm to 4pm

First round of the 2026 BC U15/U13 (Bantam) started today at Fairwinds Golf. There are 8 boys and 4 girls taking part. You can follow them here: https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/12347591050754312514
For a few of them this is their first tournament outside of the Callaway Junior Tour. I saw some great shots made today! The final round is tomorrow.

Zone 5 Men are sad to report that Wayne May, a nationally certified referee from the lower mainland, passed away this morning. Wayne was a prince of a man and a special referee. He will be missed but never forgotten.
