Yesterday at Sunday Funday, we celebrated our final session of the season with a day full of creativity, fun, and engaging activities!

The children enjoyed colouring and decorating their own birdhouses to take home as a special keepsake.

They also took part in an exciting colour-matching and colour-mixing activity, exploring different colours through playful experiments. In addition, they participated in a fun neuro-gymnastics activity designed to support coordination, focus, movement, and brain development.

The children proudly received certificates of participation, recognizing their enthusiasm and involvement throughout the year. Our teachers and assistants were also acknowledged and thanked for their dedication and commitment with bouquets of flowers.

Parents joined in the celebration alongside their children, making it a wonderful conclusion to a successful season. Everyone is already looking forward to returning for a new season of Sunday Funday in the fall.

Children's Day is an internationally recognized holiday proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925. Nearly 30 years later, in 1954, it was established as a universal holiday by the UN General Assembly.

Throughout Armenia, Children's Day honors young ones and the protection of their human rights. On June 1, Armenia's streets and public parks are typically filled with festivals and entertainment for children and their parents. Activities include educational games, plays, chess and soccer matches, and concerts.

With the fate of the nation in the balance and with widespread assistance serving refugees throughout the Middle East, Greece, and Cyprus, AGBU leadership knew that rebuilding thriving, post-war Armenian communities depended on reopening AGBU chapters and developing infrastructure in these areas. By 1919, AGBU chapters in Aleppo, Beirut, Baghdad, Damascus, and Jerusalem were all up and running, ready to provide educational programs and medical assistance as needed.

Today was the final day of our Spring Innovation Studio: Transitopia! 🚆✨
Over the past 10 weeks, our Young Innovators have brainstormed, researched, prototyped, tested, iterated, and refined their visions for the future of transportation. From renewable energy systems 🌱 to interactive transit prototypes ⚡, it has been incredible watching their ideas grow from sketches into thoughtful and creative final projects.
Today’s session focused on:
🎤 Final presentations and project showcases
🛠️ Last-minute prototype refinements and presentation prep
💬 Reflection, celebration, and feedback
Parents were also invited to enjoy their children’s projects.
It has truly been such a fun and inspiring season, and we are so proud of everything the AGBU Young Innovators have accomplished.
Looking forward to seeing everyone for our Fall Innovation Studio.

The gym was packed for the Minions basketball practice today! It almost seemed as though everyone had a sugar rush before stepping onto the court. The players arrived full of energy, enthusiasm, and excitement, eager to get moving and show off their skills. From the warm-up drills to the scrimmages, the gym was buzzing with activity, laughter, and determination.

Their high energy translated into strong effort throughout the practice, as the players worked hard on their passing, shooting, and teamwork. It was wonderful to see their competitive spirit and positive attitude. Keep up the great work, Minions!

The Day of the First Republic is a national public holiday celebrating the establishment of the First Republic of Armenia in 1918, following heroic victories by the Armenian army against Ottoman forces. These were great and essential triumphs for the nation, which had suffered through the Genocide and constant threats from the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Although the independence lasted until 1921, when Armenia became part of the Soviet Union for 70 years, Armenians still celebrate May 28 as the beginning of the modern quest for democracy.

On May 27th, AGBU Toronto screened Words Left Unspoken by Joze Piranian to a full house. The film was truly inspiring and was followed by an engaging question-and-answer period. There were many thoughtful questions from the audience, all of which Joze answered brilliantly with honesty, warmth, and humour.

The award-winning documentary has received recognition and praise for its powerful message, authenticity, and emotional depth. Through his personal journey, Joze courageously shares the challenges he faced with stuttering and self-doubt, while inspiring audiences to overcome fear, embrace vulnerability, and find confidence in their own voices. The film’s heartfelt storytelling and uplifting message have resonated with audiences everywhere.

Adding to the memorable evening, Joze also sang a song in his beautiful voice, which deeply touched everyone present. He spoke about how his book, Stop Holding Back, came to be written and published, describing it as an honest guide to turning fear into action. Guests had the opportunity to meet Joze personally as he signed many copies of his book.

It was truly an inspiring and meaningful evening that was greatly appreciated by all who attended.
