Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area

Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area Habitat for Humanity GTA is Making Homes Possible. Making Homes Right Now. Making Homes through action. Habitat for Humanity GTA is more than a charity.

We mobilize communities to help working, lower-income families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. With the help of volunteers, donors, and community partners we provide a solid foundation for better, healthier lives for families in the GTA. In support of our homebuilding activity, we operate a network of social enterprise home improvement stores called Habitat ReStore. Our 12 locations across the GTA procure and sell new and used donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials. Proceeds from sales help cover the cost to build homes, and the items we collect and sell extends the value of household items eliminating unnecessary waste. We are a local organization with a global vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Next Gen Build 2026 a success!

Over two days, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters came together on the build site with a shared purpose: creating more opportunities for the next generation to achieve affordable homeownership. Every wall raised, every task completed, and every hour contributed helped move that vision forward.

While the build may be over, the impact will continue for years to come. Thank you for investing your time, energy, and passion into helping build stronger communities and brighter futures.

We’re shifting gears to our Next Gen Build 2026!

42% of recent Ontario graduates have considered leaving the province because of housing costs. Next Gen Build brings emerging leaders, young professionals and employee networks together to make a difference- because young people deserve to have affordable homeownership opportunities in the places they want to live, work and build their communities.

The future won’t build itself! So let’s get building. 💪🛠️

It takes a community to build a community. 💙

Women Build GTA 2026 is possible because of the incredible organizations and teams who chose to build alongside us.

A special thank you to Heaps Estrin Real Estate Team for being our groundbreaking sponsor. Your dedication and investment are a crucial piece in making more affordable homes possible for families. Each team that showed up and spent a day in our Build Factory is a piece of the puzzle that helps Habitat GTA move affordable homes forward and build stronger communities across the GTA.

To all our Women Build 2026 donors, build teams and our generous sponsor: thank you for building with us.

What an incredible week of building!💕🛠️

As we close out this Friday by celebrating 100 walls being built, we are feeling energized and empowered by the commitment in action that was shown over the past couple of days. Every participant and supporter recognizes that housing unaffordability is a major issue in the GTA, and the amazing work we have completed helps us move closer to having more families move into affordable homes.

But we’re not done yet! There was so much interest in Women Build this year that we added another day next week.

To all the teams, volunteers and our partner families; thank you, your commitment extends far beyond the 5 days of building.

“Home is the foundation for something bigger.” ✨🏡

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible people giving their time, energy and skills to help build a GTA where more families have access to an affordable place to call home. About 30% of the families we serve are single-parent households led by women, and every wall built during Women Build brings us one step closer to our goal of building more homes for more of these families.

Thank you to our teams for a great day of action!

Hard hats on. Tools ready. Women Build GTA is officially underway! 🛠️🩵

Today marks the beginning of five days of building, learning and coming together in support of affordable homeownership for women, children and families - and the inaugural event in our brand new Canerector Foundation Build Factory.

To every participant who showed up ready to build, and supporter who made this week possible: thank you.

Thank you for joining us at Raise the Roof: Bingo & Brews!

Thanks to everyone who attended, we raised $4,100 in support of Habitat GTA's Whitby project.

We’re grateful to Town Brewery for hosting the event and to the local businesses that donated raffle prizes and supported the evening.

Events like this give us the opportunity to connect with our community, introduce new supporters to Habitat GTA’s work, and raise important funds to help more families access affordable homeownership.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the event. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Big news for affordable homeownership in Ajax! 🏡

Habitat for Humanity GTA is excited to partner with the Town of Ajax to create up to 66 new affordable homes at 521 Rossland Road West, our largest affordable homeownership development to date.

Today, the site may be a piece of land. But we see what comes next: homes filled with possibility, neighbours building connections, and families, couples and individuals putting down roots in a community of their own.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Town of Ajax, Mayor and Council, Town staff, and our government partners for helping us reach this milestone.

There’s more work ahead, but together, we’re one step closer to welcoming a whole new community home. 💙

A transformational moment for affordable homeownership in the GTA. 💙🏠

On Monday, we celebrated the opening of the Canerector Foundation Build Factory and an incredible $10-million gift from the Canerector Foundation, the largest gift ever received by a Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Canada.

This historic investment will help us build more affordable homes, create more opportunities for families, and move closer to our goal of 2,000 homes across the GTA by 2035.

We are deeply grateful to Susan Hawkins, the Hawkins family, and the Canerector Foundation for helping build brighter futures and stronger communities.

Celebrating 50 years of marriage by giving back. ❤️

Earlier this month, Mark and Linda Brager marked their golden anniversary in a truly inspiring way, volunteering alongside their children and grandchildren at Habitat for Humanity GTA's Etobicoke ReStore.

Together, the family sorted donations, processed five crates of items that might otherwise have taken weeks to work through, and demonstrated the power of community service across generations. It was especially heartwarming to see Mark and Linda's values reflected in their grandchildren, who shared one of Grandpa Mark's favourite sayings: "Anything worth doing is worth doing well."

Thank you to the Brager family for choosing to celebrate this milestone by making a difference in their community. Your generosity, dedication, and spirit of service inspire us all. 💙
